Thought I would share my buddy's lures he has been working on for some time now. It is nothing earth shattering but he was trying to come up with something out of the norm; which I think he did. These were put into a hand full of people last summer (many from the local MI Ch #15) to try out and results were pretty good for the amount of water time the lure received.

Anyways, I thought I would share a pic and a link to view the lures action for you basement bait guys to check out. I know you guys appreciate the creative process. The video does not do it justice as far as the lures flash but will give you an idea.

Thanks for checking them out and please feel free to comment or ask questions.

Thanks.. Targa

I've received a few questions and figured I would post the info regarding them.

1) These are made in the USA. The blade bodies are stamped in a WI manufacturing facility. Then they are hand formed to create the twisted shape. The bucktails are also locally tied. So everything is done 'locally' and by hand.

2) As for how to work this lure, well think of it as a tool like your other baits. When twitched or ripped it has some darting action which I like. When given slack line it falls away from you while fluttering. So it can be given a lot of directional changes. When fast retrieved on the surface it makes a gurgling sound. You can hear it some towards the end of the video. I like the fact it gives the "illusion of motion" without much lure speed. Kind of like a jointed crankbait does versus a straight.

I've known the owner since high school and he is a stand up guy. Just a young family guy who does drafting/designing that got caught by the bug! I know most of you can relate. He really wanted these to perform well so that's why he came to Muskie Inc for some field testers and some input before ever selling them.

Thanks again... Targa

Cool product, I like the originality.  Are there plans for a smaller one with flashabou?  Looks like a good coho bait too!

The last I spoke with him he was going to have a smaller version coming soon. I thought the same thing about salmon and coho. I would also think a smaller version could be good for the Erie fisherman and others that troll spoons for large walleyes. Anyways, I'm not positive but I believe the blade body will be around 4" for the smaller version. As for flashbou I think he is going forward with that option. In the last half of the video there is a gold colored blade with flashbou being jigged.

I'll definitely get him set up on here so he can be available to answer all your questions. Or you can contact Bob directly through his website. I know he would appreciate any feedback you may have.

Hi every one. My friend Targa talked me into joining this forum. It is actual the first web forum I have ever been a member of. I work with computers all day long and don’t like looking at them in my spare time. Well if it’s to discuss fishing I guess I will make an exception.
Any how I started a second small business. I do mechanical drafting and design work and was a manufactures facility that does custom powder coating and was amazed at the results. I had also read an article in an outdoor magazine about a guy that would cut the handles of measuring cups and twist them to use as fishing lures. Well I just thought putting the two together made sense. My first prototype I made did not catch a musky the first time out but I could not keep the northerns off the thing. Now I have caught some nice musky on the lures and a few other guys have as well.
I hope in the future to get the price down, but when you have anything manufactured in smaller numbers the price is high. Maybe if I start getting these things stamped out by the thousands I can get the price down some.

Well, I just ordered one in root beer. I will get to test it out in May during a northern pike tournament on the Chippewa Flowage. It is two months away and I've already fixed, cleaned, lubed, and respooled all my reels, and tied up some leaders and sucker harnesses. Going freakin crazy waiting for the ice to leave.

Hi SkunKt
Thanks for the support. I wish you luck in the tournament. I will be posting some video of some different retrieves on the website. They are not the best videos but a friend of mine has some better video equipment so I am also going freakin crazy waiting for the ice to leave. I would like to get some under water video as well. Good Luck and you should be getting the lure next week.

I am making them in such small quantities the manufacturing price is high. When I start getting higher quantities the price may go down without scarifying the quality of the lure. The body of the lure is stainless steel with a nice powder coat paint job. Hand ground and formed. Attached to the body are two Sampo R6R ball bearing swivels. All our buck tails have a rattle attach as well. We have a cheaper version with a silicon shirt.
Thanks for the input

Just got mine in the mail today. Big beefy swivels, bucktail, rattle, crazy sweet looking finish, I'm satisfied so far. I think it will be more of a lure to use in place of a spinner rather than replace a spoon. It sure is hard to beat the wide, yet erratic wobble of a big cop-e-cat. I think this lure will have a little more tight, in-line action. Can't wait to give it a fling.

SkunKt is right. It has a little bit different action than a traditional spoon. It goes more or less in a straight line and has some interesting movements when jigged. I posted some videos on the website if anyone would like to have a look. www.twistedspoonlures.us I use three retrieves with these lures. I have used it with a standard steady retrieve, a jigging action, and as a top water skimming weeds.
