Just got back tonight from our annual Labor Day weekend trip to Lake of the Woods fishing out of Morson at Mylie's Place. With 4 guys fishing we boated 14 muskies in 4 days and had opportunities at many more. Here they are ...

Muskies: 52, 50, 50, 46, 45, 37.5, 37, 37, 35, 35, 33, 32, 31, 30.
Northerns: 40, 36, 33, 32.
Walleyes: 29.5 (on a figure 8)

It was truly one of the most fun and memorable trips we've all had. The 52" caught by Scott was the biggest we have caught on LOTW (Not Scott's biggest though - 53.5" on Lac Seuel last summer). The two 50's were both caught by Dusty 20 minutes apart from each other on the same spot.

We were so pumped we even stopped at 1-hour photo in Duluth to get some pics back. I'll post a pic of the monster now and my 46" with the pics of the two 50's to come later because I had a scanner failure.

Wow! both are very nice fish. The 52 is a hawg!! What do you estimate both fish weighed? They both look like they have a good solid girth. I have noticed that with the fish that I have seen up there, they all seem to be well built.

Can I ask what type of cover the fish came out of? I'm not asking for the location or spot, just what type of structure were they using? I was up there during 8/17 through 8/25. We didn't see many fish in the weedy pockets or slop weeds. From your pictures the fish seem to be near the big water areas of the bay. Which is were we started finding fish. However we weren't so lucky as to get fish that big. I did see one that was pushing 50 but it's hard to guess when there in the water.

We stayed away from weeds the entire trip and focused on rock reefs and island structure close to deep water that was getting pounded by wind. Most of the fish came in 6 feet of water or less. Fished mainly with gliders, jerks, and topwater. We had 4 or 5 different spots that produced two fish or more with one spot (not very large) giving up the 46 and two 50's.

Unfortunately, due to somewhat excessive nighttime celebration, we usually didn't hit the water until 11:00 or so ... We would have loved to see what these fish were doing in the morning since we had a lot of action when we first hit the water between 11:00 and 1:00.
