| Was a hot bite yesterday. Bill Schwartz and myself caught a 40",39", and a 35", with a bonus 38" pike. We also lost one more fish. Good day to be fishing.
Boo-tails and Mepps were the hot pattern.[:sun:] |

| Not fair to tease us like that. Can't be any secrets in southern wisconsin. Glad you had a good day.[:)] |
|
| |
|
| Let's see, Jason....I have my southern Wisconsin map out and I'm not seeing Lake X. Could you just point out the appropriate map coordinates??? Thanks Dude.[:p]

| |
|
| I think it is somewhere between lake W and lake Y ???????????????? |
|
| |
|
| Bill and Jason will probably kill me if I spill my guts about where the secret lake X is located, but in the mission statement of this message board describing the need to share valuable, truthful muskie information I feel that I must.
The lake is.............. the one right by the landing, near the parking area! How's that!
You guys don't understand, Bill is a really big guy who could hurt me very bad, and Jason, well Jason isn't but he could hurt me down low where he could reach! LOL! |
|
| |
|
| Steve,
I may be vertically challenged but I can stand up to the best of them. Even tall skinny guys like you. []
Lake X is is the testing ground for Mercury Outboards, so I am not making up the name. |
|
| |
|
| Jason, I wasn't belittling (oops, bad choise of words!) your stature in the the kingdom of muskieland, where you are (and I will never be!)a muskie god! But if you were a muskie and were caught you would be released to grow bigger!LOL! |
|
| |
|
| Ahhhh, if it the lake X I'm thinking of, we cracked 45.5"(very very heavy) 40", and 36" pike, lost mid forty inch pike and high 40 class muskie. I'm sure it is the same lake X, but we'll keep it quiet won't we Jason.
Saw your buddies in the Tuffy again after we boated the fish, they were a little late, but it looked like they got one. |
|
| |
|
| Jason, Mercury's lake X is in florida from what I have found.
I could use a hint. How about a county? |
|
| |
|
| Sheesh, you guys, -I-know where it is, and even know where they are fishing because of reports last year from this wonderful, but invisible, body of water. Think walleyes and bass....Too much out of the bag, gents?? |
|
| |
|
| Oops, I got a 42 incher on lake X yesterday morning. Sworral, thats enough info. I fish there and there are plenty of dudes frogging around without more.
Thank you |

| Fished with Dave Dorazio yesterday. Spent the morning on Sand Lake. Raised a half dozen fish, and got one small one. Quiet, Dave! Green 6" Reef Hawg is what raise all but one of them.
As we were pulling a split shift, and Dave needed his nap, I agreed to meet him at a store parking lot on Hwy B at 4:30 PM. After we transferred my gear, I got in the Jeep and asked Dave if he had decided where we were going to fish that night. He had a twinkle in his eye, and said we were going to fish Lake X![:p] Then he handed me a blindfold. Actually, having ridden previously with Dave, I really didn't need a blindfold, as I usually have my eyes squeezed tightly shut![:knockout:] Blindfold on, he proceeded to drive in circles around the parking lot until I was dizzy. Again, nothing new to me! hehehe
Then we were on the road. We drove for about an hour. Now, in a straight line, we could have gone 20 miles, or 50. Then add in a couple turns and stop signs. Those who have driven with Dave will understand. We got to the lake, and launched the boat. Only when we were motoring away from the lauch did Dave tell me to remove the blinfold.
I was finally here! Lake X! She was beautiful, deceivingly large. I'd waited my whole muskie fishing life, 5 years, to fish her. And now I would get my chance. We motored easily to our first spot. Dave said it was a tad early for topwaters, and handed me a black BooTail with a RED, not orange, blade. He said he'd give me the first five casts, then I was on my own. I think he was still miffed that I had raised all but one of the fish that morning! We hunted several spots, to no avail. Then we hit a bay that had alot of crud on the water. Again, he gave me the first five casts. About halfway through, he had a nice fish blow up on his custom painted, Red Tiger Top Raider. Just about near the end, another fish blew up, apparently at nothing. Off to the next spot, with high hopes. On the way there, we saw a Bald Eagle take a duck off the water. He came right out of the setting sun. The duck never saw it coming.
I asked Dave if it was time for me to throw a topwater. He said not quite yet, and again I got the first five casts with the BooTail. He then started working that TR right over the area I had just covered. Fourth cast, at 7:40 PM, and I heard it! I turned to see him set the hook on a fish we both thought was rather small. The fish went down, but started to come in easily. About 20' from the boat, she decided to show herself. The fish we had both thought rather small, wasn't! After a thrilling fight, and a masterful job by the netman[] , we did a quick measure, took a picture of a beautiful 40" muskie. I'm sure she'll look much bigger in the picture with Dave! We quickly released a very healthy fish back into these (in)famous waters.
After congratulations, Dave told me to grab my topwater rod. Off to the next spot. And the next. And the next, and the one after that. We fished hard, but never saw another fish. At 9:45 PM,we headed for the launch. Approaching the launch, Dave handed me the blindfold.[:((] I put it on, he loaded up, and we were off. About halfway back, however far that was, he allowed me to remove it. We talked quietly the rest of the way. Once back at my truck, I transferred my gear, again congratulated him on his fish, signed his release form, and we said our good-byes.
I drove back to the trailer, happy. I had fished Lake X, and did so with a master. I thought of what I had seen that evening. The muskie, the bald eagle. And I tried not to think of the 'squitoes! Even though I never raised a fish, I was content, knowing I gave it my best effort. Isn't that how it's supposed to be? Thanks, Dave. Do I have to wear the blindfold the next time?[8)]
Tight Lines all,

| Shep,
No, you don't have to wear the blindfold next time.
Instead, I'll wear it!
And you thought my driving was bad before!!!
Remember, the screams don't bother me![]

| Dave, get anything on Big Siss last Sat? We raised one in the eve. but no takers, saw your rig there(still there after dark too!).
Moving lots o fish on your custom Boos! Thankkkkkssss!

|
| Jason,
It wasn't my rig.
I had a cancellation for Saturday.
Saturday evening I was laying on the couch, watching TV.
I haven't seen any TV since the first of May...haven't missed anything!
Dave |
|

|
| Sorry Dave,
What did the local Hayward TV network do, did they cancel "I love Luzy" on you.
You might want to sell that black and white and get one of those new remote control thingys in color. With a good set of bunny ears you should be able to pick up stations in the twin cites.
Or you could just fish, I personaly like the fishing part. |
|
| |
|
| Dave,
Cancellation? [:0] You mean I could have fished another day with you? Sounds alot better than entertaining the mother-in-law while the wife worked![]
Oh well, all for the best I suppose. Besides, you probably needed the day off to rest, considering how hard I made you work on Friday. You know, raising all those fish on the Reef Hawg, forcing you to throw one, too? hehehe
Hope this weather breaks soon. I'll be up next week Thursday and Friday again to LP. Maybe we can hook up.
Tight Lines,
Shep

| Jason, just read the post. Lake x was rocking during the first week of Aug when I headed up there. Some biggies in my boat as well as others who were out there. Short intense feeding windows were the rule, except for a day or two when the fish went nuts all day. |
