Muskie Fishing -> General Discussion -> Suick question

Had a great day on the water boating 4 fish in 8 hours of fishing, the biggest being a 37. The suick was the best producer but I also missed 4 hooked fish on the suick (would have been my best day). The fish I missed hit close to the boat on the dead rise and hit as the bait surfaced...but I could not get the hooks into them good when they hit at the surface. Any advice?

Are your hooks "T"ed?

Most important when the fish hits on the top...keep reeling or moving the lure until you FEEL weight. Then set the hook. Many times, the fish is still in the process of taking the lure when the angler reacts because of all the surface explosions!

It's hard to train oneself to wait and reel, but it is worth it.
