| I am not sure that is an albino, the water looks pretty muddy and they will lose color when in muddy water. The fins seem to be orange though. Some of the spring fish in Kinkaid from the muddy areas would be almost white...nice fish none the less. BR

| when i did a yahoo search the 3 that showed up were less white than the one i cought and they claimed they were albino as well mine didnt have have a stripes one on it could those guys be wrong as well.the game warden said it looked albino to.good theroy mabe the water does effect skin tone on muskie any way its the whitest one ive ever seen. mabe he was scared white when he relized he was getting dragged to the bank by a 2dollar wallmart diver glitter perch oh well i made the news here so did the other guys in there state |

| my custom big game pole is trashed that mother was a power hitter ive cought big stripper nothing like this beast he was released mabe he will go hide untill he gets bigger great white muskie attack on smith mt lake .hope not ill get the blame for his release .ill post a pic of my custom broken pole waste of money pos.got the job done though .was after stripper when i cought this critter berkley big game line 20 pd will bring in trees i havent lost a lure in a long time ,just a fishing pole the fish of a thousand cast |

Another site? It's only a few threads down. "Pigment Free Musky". The thread resurfaced recently but the fish was caught late last summer if I remember right.

Location: Kingston, Ontario | To be a true albino of anything, the species has to have red eyes. Hard to tell from the pics here but they don't look red...which leads me to believe these are not a true albino species...but you never know I guess. |

| The term "albino" refers to many different specific conditions relating to a lack of pigment. There is no "true" albino. Red, pink, or purple eyes are the product of different specific conditions or eye types. The only requirement for something to be albino is a lack of some pigment.

| IVE WROTE THEAD OF GNR HERE IS HIS REPLY TO MY CATCH///That is what I would consider a very rare catch! Although we did see one caught this past fall here in WI, which was 51 inches! I have only seen one in my career and I have heard of one other albino musky, caught in WI in 2005. Here are some responses that I put together last fall:
Albinism is a heredity condition that results in a lack of pigment, and can range from small blotches to complete lack of color, so, based on the photos, I would conclude that the fish in question is a true albino. The growth and development of an albino is typically the same as that of a normal individual. They also have the ability to reproduce offspring, which are not necessary going to be albinos.
This is a very, very rare occurrence. Albino musky are rare to begin with, and for one to survive to that size is really rare, given that a fish in that condition doesn't have the protective camouflage to avoid predators (when young) or to stalk prey (when older). This fish essentially stood out in the environment from day one, but through some luck, it survived. The stained waters of Smith Mountain Lake may have contributed to this fish's survival. It is truly a two-in-a-million catch (I say "two in a million" because we saw one last fall in Northern WI).
That fish was the second albino musky to surface in Wisconsin waters in recent years. In 2005, a DNR fisheries crew caught a white musky in their fyke nets during population surveys. But that fish was much smaller -- 32.7 inches long and 7.9 pounds at the time.
3. I've never heard of albino muskies showing up in any of our hatchery operations, and none of our hatchery managers have ever noticed one in any of our operations.

Sorry, but what do you want them to say? We're not talking about a record or a new species in a new body of water. It's a cool looking fish but that's about it. People shoot albino deer and catch albino fish often enough. My friend has an albino fish in his aquarium! Albinism happens in nature just like a turtle with two heads or a doe that grows antlers. |

| just posted pic and a few people dont agree with the game warden i just thought some one would like it ;but some people just like to argue dosnt matter theyll be bigger fish cought thats all it is to me then back in the water.its water under the bridge now im not posting any thing else about it |
