Location: oswego, il | I bought this bait from the buy/sell/trade forums here and I was wondering who makes this glidebait. It is not an HR or a Cobbs. It is 8" long and had a head shaped somewhat like an instigator. The bottom of the tail says 5 of 8 I believe. Not really worried about the finish but would not mind getting another one. The person I bought it from does not know it's origin either.

Location: Oregon | Looks to be made of western red cedar and the shape looks alot like a Hughes. However, there aren't any cotter pins on the belly hook which is weird. This lure should be a good swimmer and you should refinish it.

Todd - Tim will be at the swap on Saturday and he can tell you for sure. He hasn't made too many gliders over the years. |

Location: South East Wisconsin | Just curious as to why you would get it refinished? Obviously the muskies like it the way it is. Whenever any of my lures get beaten up I don’t do anything to them except seal the wood. I did get on refinished and learned my lesson along time ago. |

Location: oswego, il | EH, I hear ya. The finish is nice but thin and the hooks I put on it really beat it up as did the fish I caught with it. A thick epoxy coat could screw it up but then do I take the chance on getting it water soaked and possibly splitting? |

Location: Oregon | Chances are it won't split. I test cedar lures all the time unfinished just to see how they work and can't remember them splitting unless you try to dry them too quickly. However, the lure wll behave differently (maybe better, maybe worse) if you leave it unfinished because it will soak up water and change the weight. I have tested lures that worked far better when soaking wet and others that weren't as good.

Location: Probably Minnesota that time... | The writing on the bottom, and the glitter, remind me of an AP Lure- by Paul Hartman, now produced by Musky Buster, Although I think the head shape is a little different.

Location: syracuse indiana | hey todd, you can put a thin coat of 2 ton epoxy (devcron) . i do it all the time and that will seal the bait and preserve it also. just make sure you use a lure turner and baby it till it sets.. i do it all the time and for members of the club.. it wont change the action of it as long as its turned evenly and also thin out the epoxy with denatured alcohol |
