A little background info first. I had a x125 go bad. Water got into it from all the rain this summer. The unit was four years old, it beeped and flashed back lighting at will, but the graph read fine and the temperature gauge worked great. Sent it back to Lowrance and they sent me a Mark 5 replacement and a power cord replacement. Now here is the problem....... after hooking it all up - the graph is spectacular, but it is not reading the temperature (temp is in the transducer) Lady at Lowrance said she would send me a new power cord. That is back ordered of course. She claims that it was probably bad. My question is it the transducer, even though ithe temp worked fine on the old x125. Anyone out there experience this type of problem? Help !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't even say buy a Hummingbird, I've already contemplated that.

Just so I'm clear, your not using the X125's transducer are you? You make it sound as if your using that transducer. I'm not sure why she would be sending you a power cord. The power cord doesn't effect the temp reading if the unit is working. This all doesn't make sense.

Yes, I am using the x125 transducer. It has the temp gauge built in it and Lowrance said it should work.

I'm guessing they relayed the wrong message, but this is your problem. Your using the wrong transducer. You need to get the transducer that is made for the Mark 5. I'm 100% positive this is your problem.

The old tranducer will work with the Mark 5 unit to read depth. The Mark 5 will not read the temp with the old transducer. If you want the temp you need the newer transducer or you need to buy a temp probe and network to the Mark 5.

Thank you T.J. and Southshore. The new transducer came today. The question is how come you guys get it, but the people at Lowrance did not? Hopefully it will work.

The customer service people know the stuff, but they don't know the stuff in quite the detail as some. When calling customer service with any issues, make sure you explain everything in-depth and very precise. I'm guessing here but maybe they did not realize the temp gauge was a big deal to you. They fixed your unit so it worked again without realizing the temp sensor is different with that transducer and unit.

Also, anytime your using or replacing a unit, being able to use the old transducer doesn't always work, but in your instance it did.
