| Posts: 1224 Location: Okoboji | What is all your guys opinions on paint? I currently use createx but am finding inconsistancies in the quality of the paint. I did some research on the kustomkulture forum and people are having the same issues. I ordered up some wicked colors at the advise of members on the board. I will post what i find. My homebrew reducer works great but i also ordered up some flash reducer from wicked to try out. I am going to try some auto air sparklecents also. | ||

I do not care for the way they changed most auto air colors but still use some but a lot less of it (only use it for certain colors). I also do not like wicked for some of the same reasons , like no coverage and have to use multiple light coats and to much drying time between coats. If I was doing a large area it would not be so bad but when doing lures it is a pain to keep putting them down and picking them up. Also hand holding stencils for a second coat. Have been trying some of the Badger paints and will use more of them when they have the colors. | ||

| Posts: 1224 Location: Okoboji | that is why you would use the flash reducer it will dry real fast and using a hair dryer it should be even quicker than the createx (reg) the wicked is waterborne not waterbased, it has a little bit of solvent in it,,,i have been told...i will do some baits with both and see...i cannot wait to try the detail colors too! | ||

| Posts: 941 Location: Freedom, WI | Have used the reducer still do not like it and hairdryers are fine once and a while but if you had to do 40 lures that way. I want coverage in one coat and the newer autoairs and wicked does not do it for me. For base coats and florescent it is necessary most of the time for multiple coats. I paint from light to dark and coverage should not be a problem. If I did large areas or taped off areas it would be ok but most times I free hand or hand hold stencils. Have fun, playing around with different paints is a good way to find out what works for you. | ||

| Posts: 17 | The best thing about createx paint or auto air paint is the smell and the clean up.. I have used other paints and the smell give me a head ache with a respiratory on! Its like using clear coat all day long.. Plus you can layer createx paint better and give depth to your work. Just my 2 cents.. But I do see everyones point.... I keep a hair dryer next to me and dry between coats. | ||

| Do you guys use automotive clear over the auto air, if so how does it hold up to hook rash and teeth, I noticed two coats of etex isn't enough over reg createx, the muskies more often then not rip through the top coat. | |||

| Posts: 1530 | muskyfix. water base is softer then lacquer based. we use water base only for scale or small detail. the downfall is you need a good blower system with lacquers. and at this time of year your heat rapidly goes outdoors. | ||

| George Thanks for your reply, I haven't used lacquer based as of yet on baits but really love the fact that the paint holds to plastic very well and is allot harder then water based paints. I used to paint cars in my younger years and know the fumes of lacquer. | |||
