Posts: 1224 Location: Okoboji | This is the first bait i have ever made, it is a little over 9" long, painted it rattle can....works great right out of the gate. Took it out on saturday, runs true and has a nice dive and rise. I am looking forward to making more baits. I ordered up an IWATA airbrush and gonna get a lathe, bandsaw, sander, scroll and etc from my grandfather since he is too old to use them anymore...looks like i will have some fun this winter! | Your jerk baits look awesome. If you dont mind me asking what devise you use to make the rivet hook hangers and where would the average joe get one of those. Again great work. With all the crazy talent in the basement i sometimes think that the simple patterns work the best on the water. Its hard to beat the colors you implemented on your baits. Thanks again

Posts: 223 Location: Victoria,MN | Hey dbag it looks like he may have drilled a hole and inserted a cotter pin from the bottom and folded the two ends over on the topside.

Posts: 1224 Location: Okoboji | I am building a airbrush booth right now that is going to be pretty trick. It is aluminum and plexi. I have two ac cooling fans I am going to draw with and put some lights in there...... Back to hook hangers I wonder if there is a way I can tig a flat rivet or small washer on a wire/hanger so you don't have to do a through wire. Bring on winter I am excited to make some baits. I have so many ideas it is driving me nuts. Haha.

Thought I could help you out. I have seen other baits this way, but have never tried it. Do some more research, go to a few suppliers websites such as Lakeland, Lure parts online etc. There's more than one way to skin a cat. Edited by T-Bone 11/16/2010 2:17 PM

Posts: 1224 Location: Okoboji | well, the cotters are very strong, most likely overkill. The through wire is probally the best way but there has to be a way to do it better. Once i get my lathe i am not going to use the cotter pins anymore cause i want to do the wire/hook hangers thing. t-bone check your pm, wondering when you will be home.

As far as I can tell the Suick is the same thing. My dad built a bunch years ago using cotter pins, and caught quite a few fish with them, and they held up great. I still have those in fact. They are just suick replicas. About the only way you can tell the difference is the tail is a much thicker un-polished aluminum.
