| OK, maybe I'm an idiot for asking but I was out on White Bear today for the first time in about a month - surface temp was 65 and the water was incredibly cloudly maybe only 2-3' visibility. Color was not green but more of a milky/grey. If it was Oct I'd swear the lake was turning. The only place I found/caught a ski was in 2' on an inside edge with rock/hardpan - a pretty typical location for fish during turnover.
Maybe because we had such a hot summer and very cool the past couple weeks we're getting a little turning already? If so, we could be in for a very long turnover period this year since it's bound to warm up again. |

| I agree with your observations but it's not turnover related. Water has been stirred up quite a bit lately and I'm curious to know if the weed treatements they did out there have something to do with the cloudy conditions and poor fishing. The whole south basin was treated over the course of the summer. Hopefully the water comes up a bit next year and lake associations and boards don't try to play God again. One of the nicest lakes in the metro is 'anything but' this year.
Also kind of funny it all happened in july and august, just in time for a lot of these people to pull their docks and stop using the lake. I'll probably be fishing somewhere else for the next few weeks. |

| hey steve, there is a turnover thread on MH with some interesting stuff on it - maybe she did turnover last week since it was so warm for the last few months - btw it's cleared up now quite a bit |
