Fishing with my father about 20 minutes after moonrise and thinking that the clearing sky wasn't going to do us any favors when this monster came gliding in behind my red/brn/cppr Lungen Tail with hammered blades. We had thick weeds less than 30 feet from the boat and after the 3rd boatside manuever I started worrying that we may drift in and not have room to work this fish. After several (8-10) boat side manuevers with my 8'6" Sling Blade the fish retreated slightly to deeper water, but coninued to lurk. While I continued to keep some of the fishes attention my father brought our only reamining sucker around from the back of the boat. After what would be equated to over 20 figure 8's, this fish grabbed the sucker on our quickset (home construction with 100lb flouro). The fishes first run nearly brought me to my knees (I was actually down on one knee from the first run). Without any hesition my father netted the fish on what appeared to be that "first hard turn at the surface" that often times is like the beginning of the tug o war you always hope you will win. In one moment, an entire season, with lots of high winds, lots of high temps, and lots of stringy weeds but few fish is completely erased.

Thanks, she was in hot pusuit about every 3 out of 4 times around and I switched it up going deep next to the boat and fast and wide on the turn to the outside, it was just amasing to have her following for that long
