Hey Folks - Our home waters have been so slow we decided to try ML on Thrus (our only chance). We can only daylight fish. I could use any advice I can get. Where should we start? Using what? Are there major navigational issues I should worry about? I'm always nervous going to new water but ML has me a little scared.

Thanks for your help.

I haven't fished Mille Lacs for a couple of years, but here are my thoughts.

I'd suggest, if the weather allows it, fishing Vineland Bay on the SW side of the lake. Put in at Eddies Resort and its a short boat ride out to the bay. If the Muskies are not active, there are usually some nice pike in that bay. Spinner Baits like Rad Dogs and CJs usually work well in the weed beds there. The deep weeds out in about 12 ft of water are usually best, but not always. Sometimes the near shore weedline holds fish too.

If its windy, then try any of the bays on the calm side of the lake. Cove Bay on the south is usually a safe bet in bad weather. Isle can be good. The Garrison area can be an alternative if you get hit with a west or NW wind.

Good luck.
