| I know there are some N. WI guys on here so maybe someone could throw me a bone. I haven't been to LCO in 10+ years, but will be there the last week in August. This is a family trip, so I won't be able to dedicate a full day to a guide like I wish I could.
Any tips on what types of areas to target and what to chuck at em! |

| I used to fish LCO all the time several years ago. I would really concentrate on fishing the ring bars directly on the west side of the lake, the largest fish I have seen have come from this spot. here are some other spots that are money this time of year out there, wismo point, center bar, winters bar, and kentucky bar. Keep the boat out deep especially when fishing the bars and humps. These are mostly rock spots, there are fish in the weeds but I have done better fishing rock out there this time of year. throw dawgs, big joe's grandma's, depth raiders, throw yellow if its sunny, go natural when its dark or overcast. If you find fish in the weeds throw big twicthbaits, or 10's. and don't forget to stick it out after dark! Ashland point used to be an awesome spot also, don't know what the weeds are like there anymore but they used to grow out to 14ft. Also straight across the main lake from chicago bay there is a long sand flat mixed with weeds its called Pattersons bar i think, I know there has been alot of nice fish caught off this spot. this should keep you busy for the duration of your trip....good luck.

| Right now the water clairty on LCO resembels more stained water fishing than clear. Surface temps last night at 8:00 were 79 degrees. Not sure if it pollen in the water or what exactly. Ive heard of some good walleye action recently, so find them, find the skies. Ive heard of 3 45+ers taken off of center bar this year, never caught one there but with that midlake structor there has to be big fish. Otherwise, find where the bait is, 30-50 ft and toss a topwater bait, pink spoons work great too !!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL |
