Posts: 9 Location: Oklahoma | Do you muskie guys catch many pike on your DCs? I am an avid pike man heading to a flyout near Kenora in a few weeks. lake was pike but no muskie. Wondering if I should get a big double blade bucktail and give it a whirl for some pike? #5 mepps and musky killers are my staple for pike. Thanks - Scott 106 degrees in Tulsa OK

It is amazing how a pike always gets both trebles on DC's and can just about destroy one by bending them almost out of commission. Pike are easily triggered with speed, so that is something to think about for the #8s as well. But, that being said, the #10 blades and bigger certainly have something special that triggers fish on their own, even without the extra work of burning them. Ryan

We go to an all pike flyin lake every year and have thrown dc's but not really done that well with them. We do better with mepps #5's actually and kill with bulldawgs and jerkbaits like the hellhound and tippy darter. On the lake we went to this year the big fish seemed to want either orange tailed bulldawgs or big spinner baits with gulp trailers. We grinded the spinnerbaits through the weeds and caught a lot of fish. The trailers made the difference for sure. The group caught a number of fish over forty with the biggest a 44 and a half. My got to have baits on the fly in are, bulldawgs, hellhounds, spinnerbaits, mepps #5's, orange and black spoons, lucky craft pointers in american shad color and when things get tough, gulp sinking minnows. Cast em out on light line and let em sink. Caught a 43" fish on one a couple of years ago and tons of hammerhandles on light line. Had a blast with them. Good luck

Posts: 339 Location: Denmark | I got a 49,6 inch pike this may on a CD(Shumway screamer) since then 2, 40 inch fishes on DC's (little showgirls), and one much bigger on a large bekerman spinnerblade that i lost before landing. I found that DC's or spinners are awesome pike armor, but not always. I have had most success with them on shallow water, or colored water. But under the right conditions DC's are the best pike bait there is. Edited by Killerbug 8/14/2010 2:44 AM

If there are alot of fish in the 36"-38" plus range I'd say a double #10 spinner would would great. We get quite a few Northerns on them. If the Lake has a population of smaller fish then a double #8 would be a better choice and like already ,mentioned wont wear you out like a double #10. Tossing tens takes more than just your regualr gear to fish all day with. Good Fishin' Tim

Posts: 61 | I have had an awesome pike season with 8s. Northland boobie traps and dc jrs. I like the fact that I can fish easy all day with mid size stuff. Also have had excellent luck With the rapala glidin rap. Pike just love em. Good luck!
