Posts: 50 | Alright there is a new Legend rod out have any of you guys seen it yet or held it. Wondering what the scoop is. Just like the SlingBlade but 6ins longer or does it load different. Looking for the inside info Thanks

Posts: 692 Location: Pelican Rapids, MN | The Big Nasty is not out yet - It was leaked in the R&H catalogue. St. Croix is planning on releasing it in the future. All I can say is it will be a 9' HF Legend with more of a general big bait use. A cross between the "Big Dawg" and the "Slingblade". Rod will load similar, but a tad bit stiffer than the sling, but have the hook setting backbone of the Big Dawg. It won't be out for a while - They have done testing to decide what they want to ideally make, but they have yet to install the tooling for mass production. I have been hounding them about it ever since last summer. Looking forward to it - It should be one hell of a rod.

was talking to the rep at the minnesota show and he said its probably going to be something of a cross between the slingblade and the top-n-tail. something of a tweener rod for blades and topwater. little softer tip to load up double tens and such. not so much for mag dogs and definetly not for pounders. prototypes should already be in the hands of croix's pro staff for testing. and sometime in july they will make a decision on which blank they are going to go with and then start production in late july early august.

Posts: 221 | Nice! Was hoping for a lighter tip then the Slingblade... In my experience, a bit of a softer tip holds fish better... And I'll take that over ease of retrieve from a heavier one. The description of it being between a T&T and a Slingblade sounds perfect to me. Darcy Cox

Posts: 165 Location: Minnesota | Does anyone have any more or new information on this? Since there seems to be conflicting info btw the above posts. Is is more like the slingblade or the big dawg, and what is it designed to be used for? I am trying to decide if I should wait to build a stick until this blank comes out or if I should just go ahead and build on the big dawg.. Dano Edited by dfree 5/25/2010 10:29 AM

Posts: 1663 Location: Kodiak, AK | This is a cut and paste I got from a well-known shop owner in MN that he got for me directly from St. Croix- "It will be a 9’ rod that will be in between the top n tail rod and sling blade rod for power. In other words between medium heavy and heavy action. They won’t be out until after the icast show."

Posts: 76 | Its hard to say what the final one will be but when I played with it it did have the feel of the Top-n-Tail more than the sling blade IMO. They are doing a few different versions and testing will give them the feed back they need to put it together. It will be a great stick when it comes out but it is definetly going to be a few months. As far as what the final is going to be like it is hard to say exactly at this time.

I'm sure getting you one to play with is at the top of St. Croixs list Jerry, especially since you are hounding them about it. good chuckle this a.m.

Posts: 238 | My st.croix rep told me that its basically a slingblade with a tad softer tip essentially achevied by adding six inches more to the sling blade blank giving you a more workable blank. He informed me that i should have one in my hands by the end of september,i cant wait. Hopefully just in time for some fall fun.

Posts: 1059 Location: Medford, WI | I was in St. Croix a week ago and the worker there said that it would be out in September or October...also mentioned that it would be heavier like the Sling and Big Dawg; however, reading the above posts it seems like it will be closer to the T'n'T and Sling. -Jake
