| Everybody says there is no such thing. I beg to differ. I have a magic depth raider that has over 15 fish on it this year. I have put depth raiders on all my rods while trolling and that one will catch every fish. It does not matter where I put it.
I also have changed to a certain bait a couple times this year to have it bring fish to the boat on it's first two casts more than once this year.
Anybody else have a magic bait?[:p] |

| ALL my baits are magic...they disappear in the water, the fish obviously can't see them![:(] |

| I have three: a special metallic perch colored supershadrap (I took about 10 pike on it and, ecept one of 60cm, I only took piek in the 70-80cm range and lost one over 40"), and a 6" swim whizz in bulfrog (well, it used to be before it met those toothy critters! LOL) that has more teethmarks on it than paint. It must have taken somewhere between 40 and 50 pike so far and I'm not ready toretire it yet. It keeps catching, and as a last one I have this shakespeare big-S for 16 years now (my first bait ever) and that one has taken between 90-100 pike, but all smaller ones up to 82cm. It catches pike every second time I use it. |

| As a relatively new and inexperienced muskie fisherman, I cannot speak on muskie baits with any authority. But as a longtime pike and walleye fisherman, there is one thing I can tell you for sure. All baits of the same make, model and pattern do not fish the same!! I have five identical size #18 rapalas in the chartreuse and pearl color and one of them is all chewed to h**l!! The other four are hardly touched. Same story with a half dozen Long A Bombers I have, in what I call a golden sucker pattern. I've dragged them all for miles and it seems that the one particular bait gets all the action, as witnessed by the scratches and tooth holes, while the others go relatively untouched. Don't ask me why, it must be something slightly different in the action, sound, vibration etc. I am very careful to check for line abrasion and knot strength when I put one of these proven baits down. I'm sure I'd cry like a baby if I lost one, especially if it turned out to be due to neglect on my part!! GUARD THAT DEPTH RAIDER WITH YOUR LIFE!!!!!

| I agree that there are magical lures that cannot be explained. I also have three of them. I have a blackbird topraider with 53 muskies in three seasons now, a Jointed Chartreause depth raider with 3 fish over 7" this summer trolling while also trolling other jointed DR's that never got touched(plus a few bonus walleyes), and two reef hawgs that have 103 muskies on them in three seasons, they are simply wonderfu;, and yes I do have many others in the same size and colors that just do not perform like the special ones. |
