Posts: 1245 Location: Madtown, WI | Some of you have gone....some of you have talked about going...and some of you...well you should just go! The Madison, Capital City Chapter of Muskies Inc. is planning a trip to Famed Andy Myers Lodge on Eagle Lake in September, and its OPEN TO ANYONE who wishes to come!!! When?: September 4 – Sept 11 2010 Where?: Staying at Andy Meyers Lodge on Eagle Lake, Ontario, Canada How much?: Herbie is cutting our group a GREAT deal! $589 per person! 100$ deposit is required ASAP to save your spot! What’s this includes?: 6 day / 7 night accommodations, late model boats with new motors., all towels and linens, daily dock service, midweek maid service, use of boats and motors on 5 remote lakes at no charge, marked maps and seminars. Bring your own boat and enjoy free boat dockage and battery hook-up ALSO- Herbie is including 12 gallons of gas PER PERSON!!! If you would like to include all meals or just the evening meals I have the prices for those as well. Herbies guides are also available but you should let me know right away so we can get deposit checks in and get them reserved!! They also have upgrades available on boats for a fee. Several folks went this route last year versus dragging up their own boat. ALSO!!!!!! As in years past, we will be doing a drawing on the first night (sat) to see who in the group is the lucky ones to fish with Herbie himself for an outing!!! We are doing September 4 – Sept 11. This week is prime as its leading into the NEW MOON on Weds Sept 8! That is smack in the middle of the week. The old saying great fishing two days before and two days after…well we are there for all that! This is prime time as the large females slide shallow with the cooling waters..this time of the year is when we run into some VERY large clean, open water fish in the shallows..and with the moon influence this week there typically is some very strong feeding widows! Not only does Herbies crew work to put folks on fish, but there will be sharing of information and map marking for those of you who will be new to eagle lake. This trip is about learning and sharing....just ask and all the help will be there for you!! ***** NOTE: You do not need to be a capital City Chapter member to go on the trip!!!! PM Me if your interested or call me @ 608-213-7747 if you have questions! Cory Painter Edited by C.Painter 3/16/2010 8:18 AM Attachments ---------------- eagle muskie2.JPG (52KB - 142 downloads)

Posts: 13688 Location: minocqua, wi. | the hair on my neck just stood up ... i'll be there with bells on and can't wait to return to the camp on the rock. this week at AML is simply outstanding and the group that is there is experienced and works hard as a team to make sure everyone is getting a shot and learning what's going on. we get a huge head-start from Herbie and his guides and then get down to business. in 4 years of going up there, my boat has put a 50" fish in the net every time doing nothing more than following the advice of Herbie and his guides. for sure it's no guarantee, but you will get a shot ... then it's up to you to convert and it's usually at the side of the boat. i'd like to show you the picture of the 50" i caught but i dropped it in the water :0( ... ahhhh, the evening of the infamous drop on slippery rock. i'm currently without a partner ... but my rig is going. this is an awesome deal and if you ever wanted to go this is the best experience and value you could ever get.

Posts: 1245 Location: Madtown, WI | Yeah there are some nice fish to be had!! Matt, my partner last year, was on his first trip to eagle...he was a LOTW guy...here is the recap from our HOUR ON THE WATER that first night..... ________________________________________ The trip started off well as Matt and I hit the water fri night for 1 hour. We hit strawberry since it was close. Had three fish up in that hour on a granny type bait, a ~ 44, 46 and 47 inches. Actually the 47 incher came in on my SECOND cast of the trip. Matt said "wow nice fish!" I said..."Welcome to eagle!" The 46 actually grabbed the bait in the 8 but no hooks. We were pretty excited about the prospects after that night. --------------------------- Matt miss or lost a couple real heart breakers...but Matt raising a true west arm monster (55 plus, which we raised 2 more times) as well as many other 50 inch class fish...SOLD him on Eagle lake Man I can't wait to get back up there!! cory Edited by C.Painter 3/17/2010 8:13 AM

Posts: 13688 Location: minocqua, wi. | 50" troll, 50" sunset, 50? - slippery rock and 50" on the weeds ... if you count the guides it's double i guess right? you and me didn't do as bad as you think johny. that said, this trip, those guides and that place are fantastic. it's a great idea if you have money to hire a guide but it is not critical ... just listen to herbie, work with the team jump into a boat if you're invited and have a great week. it's a fantastic place and can't wait to get up there again.

Posts: 584 | Yep, Cory's account of my first hour on Eagle says it all...nice 47" up to the boat on Cory's second cast...welcome to Eagle is right! I'll never forget the sight of that big mother down in the West Arm, she was blonde and had some serious love handles! Cory said it best, in that gin clear water she "stood out like a turd in a punch bowl"....LOL I'd definitely recommend this trip to anyone, and especially anyone who is on the fence about going to Eagle for the first time...this is a trip to THE premier trophy muskie water in the world, at an excellent rate, at the top resort on the lake, during one of the most prime timeframes, and with the top guides and anglers who fish the lake--all of whom will be there to help and assist you put fish in the boat. It's a great, great opportunity.

Posts: 1245 Location: Madtown, WI | That fish was far from dark. This video will illustrate that better. As many of you know, you can take a picture after sunset yet not dark, and it show up as being completely dark out. I think the pic and the video give a good example of that. You can't night fish on eagle period. I have to look back at the regs I think its a half hour after sunset. No need to night fish as big fish are caught here all times of the day...however that magical last hour is always my fav

Posts: 2894 Location: Yahara River Chain | C.Painter - 6/1/2010 2:24 PM You can't night fish on eagle period. I have to look back at the regs I think its a half hour after sunset. The fishing hours are a 1/2 before sunrise to 1/2 after sunset. When is that? Look on your GPS it will tell you when sunrise/sunset is..

| Do you guys do this trip every year? I would love to go this year, but already going to LOTW Mid-august and guessing work wouldn't like it too much if I took another week off! I've been going to LOTW for the last 10 years, but would love a chance to fish and learn Eagle as I've never fished it before and I'm still looking for my first 50". if I know it's gonna happen next year, I can plan accordingly this winter. | |||

Posts: 2894 Location: Yahara River Chain | Jason Hillman - 7/14/2010 8:37 AM Do you guys do this trip every year? Yes, Cory has handle this event for the last 5 yrs or so and Donnie Hunt had done it before that. So you can must likely count on it happening again next year. Thanks Cory for setting this up. I know its a lot of work and thanks to Herbie for allowing us to invade your camp.

Posts: 1061 Location: Medford, WI | Jon, wish I could hop in the boat with you!!! I'd love to get out up there; however, I have to start student teaching the week before that...plus, probably couldn't afford it at this poing in my life. However, in the future I'd love to get up there with you. Jerome, I've heard the stories from Sled and you should go!!! You work hard enough that you can take a week off to go catch some big, fat Canadian hogs! Hope all is well. -Jake Bucki
