Hey guys, Im looking for those good deals on a used or new Humminbird fishfinder, series 500 or higher (would love to find a deal of a 900 series). Where would you look? Do you know anyone that is looking to get rid of theirs?

Amazon.com is a good place to start, picked up a 858c with a Lakemaster chip for what just the unit sells for in most stores.

bmazzo8,

I purchased two Hummingbird models that I am very pleased with. The 917C has GPS and a 931 for the front of the boat. Both have 7" screens and both were purchased once Hummingbird closed out the model. They were state-of-the-art (just as all graphs are) right up until the day that the manufacturer stops making them. I saved a bundle purchasing the graphs in this manner. The 931 came direct from Hummingbird and the 917C was $300 off at West Marine.

If you are patient, search the best web sites and often, and are not in a rush to buy right this minute ... I believe this method is a good way to go.

This all transpired last spring (2010). Hummingbird has beefed up the remaining 900 series models, so I doubt they will close any of the remaining 900 models out anytime prior to next spring.

Hummingbird has a closeout section on their web site.

Craig

I wonder if there is anywhere to find those closed out models. Ill take a quick look. Im thinking Ill go for the Humminbird 958C unless I can find a crazy price for the 1100 series. Where do you all shop for your electronics? The best I can find is at Jolly Ann Sales.

Other than the external vs internal antenna, what is the difference between the 917c and the 858c?
