looking for a small musky lake near hayward to catch a fish or 2. Doesnt matter if there is a lauch just as long as we can carry in or back off the road. Just looking to get relatives new to musky fishing to catch one. Thanks

Try Moose Lake. There is a launch there also.

Callahan/Mud would be a great choice. Launch is on Chief River Rd., go down a thoroughfare into Mud lake and Callahan. Great place for action and very scenic. Fish run small but numbers are good. Also some very nice largemouth!

I'd recommend Lost Land/Teal Lakes above the others. They don't have the wood hazards that Moose has, and they don't get as ridiculously weedy as Mud/Callahan.

Lost Land/Teal has a public boat ramp on the north end of Highway A, and they are numbers lakes, with 40" plus fish available.
