was wondering if the slingblade (the 8'6" rod) will be a good choice for throwing Huddleston 8" swimbaits and other baits of its size and weight ??? i am pretty sure the big dawg would be to powerful for those smaller baits , any comments ?? thanks

I'm guessing those are bass baits? Probably not a lot of guys here familiar with them. How much do they weigh? I've never used a Sling Blade, but for the most part, I wouldn't think you would want to use one for baits much over 8 ounces.

I can throw every lure in my tackle box with my slingblade. Granted, I don't have any pounders of 13 inch jakes and stuff, but it can throw anything from 6" jakes to magnum bulldawgs. It truly is one amazing rod.

I throw just about everything with mine all the bull dawgs minus the pounder and all my buck tails and i can throw everything a mile with it even the smaller baits. Great rod would buy it again if i had too.

the 8" Hudds (rate of fall 16) weigh 5.1 ounces . i am hoping this rod would be perfect for them and similar baits of that weight .

I throw swimbaits with my Sling Blade. I've fished the Hulbert Shadillac (6 oz), Nate Bait 11 in Trout (7 oz), the 8 inch Bull Shad (4 oz), and the 10 in Storm Kickin Minnow (5.5 oz) with the Sling Blade. The Sling Blade loads nicely and provides for an effortless day of tossing swimbaits. I like the rod and plan on getting another Sling Blade soon.

BTW, I have both the Sling Blade and the Big Dawg. For 6 oz swimbaits, I liked the Sling Blade better. It loaded better on the cast and I could cast farther. Either one will work but for these swimbaits, the Sling Blade as easier and less fatiguing.
