I'm looking for a good guide, or pair of guides, to fish Vilas County this August.

I'll be staying on the Cisco chain, but would probably prefer to fish other surrounding WI lakes.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I know here in the Minnepolis area I see alot of listings on Craiglist for Muskie guides. Check it out. I have seen 3 or 4 different guides listing their services on there. Maybe in your area someone does the same thing.

If you want to learn the Cisco Chain look up Bruce Becker. He has fosuced on the Cisco Chain for about 35 years now with many big fish to his credit. His phone number is 906 358 0995 or his cell is 715 360 6001.

Second good choice is Patrick Sheahan. Another Land O' Lakes guide that has been quietly producing a lot of great fish for many years. His numer is 715 410 4224. They both have web sites that can give you more information.

Hope this helps,

Bruce Becker is the guy for the cisco chain----lots of big fish to his credit from those lakes and I would think no one up there knows them any better than he does. Not to sure about how many of the other Vilas county lakes he fishes----The cisco chain is an awesome fishery.

Thanks for the replies everyone, I appreciate it. Keep them coming! I'll be away from the computer until Friday, and then it's time to start calling. Feel free to add new suggestions, 2nd or 3rd others, or whatever. Thanks.

I actually am fairly familiar with the Cisco Chain, and would like to get on some of the other nearby lakes.

Scott Keiper for sure. He'll charge extra for the travel but it's well worth it.

I can honestly say that if I wanted to dial into the mind of two well accomplished musky fisherman in the Northwoods who have proven themselves time after time, I'd be on the phone with Mark Lijewski, Gordy Hastrieter or Jason Sloan before anyone else.

There are some real good ones listed here and they would all do well. Howie has been guiding for a very long time, Shane Mason (715-850-0573) does some up that way and so does Travis Kopke http://www.kopkeguideservice.com/ .
