Heading out in the morning to troll a shallow point that has produced fish and was thinking about trolling a topwater over the real shallow end. Anyone ever troll topwater baits? if so what works good?

I do with my handmade scuttle bug copies and with globes. Fish close to the weed edge but not on top of it, that's what has produced action for me (missed them all from the shock of seeing the big splashes at my baits but it works).

I have trolled surface baits along rock walls on LOTW with planner boards.I use my Pinpoint trolling motor and keep the boat on the break line. That way you can sneak the baits right along shore. O yes! Don't forget to HANG ON!! [] TR

I like the tail spinner type surface baits off planner boards.Tallywacker's, top kicks and twin teaser tails have all worked for me. I also like to back troll instead if foward troll. This way you are looking at the board's/lures and can see the wake and then make a turn to speed up the lure.
