I bought a few toros in the off season. With mn opener only 1 week in my thumbar won't engage after a cast. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know how long abu will take to fix it? I just sent them an email.

I have the same problem with my toro, now mine is probably my fault, its been abused and been accidently engaged multiple times throwing dawgs. I have been able to get it to engage if I hit the reel with the palm of my hand. This has become such a pain that it is now not on any rod. But I will be getting another toro in the near future. Are yours brand new or used?

Abu has very good customer service. Mail it to them with a note saying what's wrong with it and they will have it back to you in about a week.

I would bet that if you get it UPS'd to them on Monday you will have it back by the weekend.

Mine are brand new I bought them in the off season. My other one crapped out today too. Was reeling in a krisco and went to give er the ol rip/pause halfway through the cast and it went pop and now this reel has no drag or spool tension. Good thing I threw in a Calcutta for back up today.

A Calcutta for backup ? That sounds like having Walter Payton on the bench while Cedric Benson starts....

Why would you send a email ??? pick up the phone and call them, Let ABU tell you what to do with your 2 reels, why post on here about them ??? you are wasting time, I would go to the web site and print out the PRODUCT REPAIR FORM, fill it out, and over nite the reels to ABU with your proof of purchase and call Customer Service to let them know they are coming. Don't waste your time posting on this site, call ABU. U blew up 2 reels in a week ??? I would take a look at how you are casting and using the reels.
