There was a time a few years ago when the people that made Bull Dawgs made a bullhead/catfish looking soft plastic bait. Same twisty tail with a fish shaped body and it looked like something that would work on my water where bullheads are a number one target for the muskies.

I am not very good with soft plastics, never did well on them sums it up better. I was wondering if anyone that does good with the Bull Dawgs and clones has had any luck with the bullhead/catfish version of the lure?

I was hand picking lures for a trip next weekend and I was torn between putting it in the box to use or the box to get rid of. It looks good, but I have a lot of other lures that look good also that never caught squat diddly.

Yeah, I know, anything with hooks on it will catch fish, but I also know there are lures with hooks on them that will catch 20 times as many over the course of years with equal use. The last thing I need to do is try to prove I can catch fish on a so-so lure, but at the same time I hate to give up on a lure too soon.

Any info would be appreciated!

I have never used the catfish lure, but one of my favorite lures is the sucker one. They are made by Musky Innovations and are the "real fish" series. I know the sucker is great in the water and I am sure that the catfish will be great too. It should definately make your box!

I've had good luck with both the sucker and the bullhead but with an added spinner blade in front of them. On almost all the hits the muskie has followed about 3 feet parallel to the lure and then t-boned it.

I'm down to Cedarburg for my niece's graduation this Saturday. My mind will be on the water.

Thanks for the info.

I can't get up north fast enough this weekend! I have taken into consideration the advice and will once again place the bullhead in the box. Maybe this time it'll do something if I throw it. I usually try it on deep rock structure off the river channel, crawling it up the slope out of 30' to the rock tops in 12-17'. Maybe I need to try it shallower? But why when I've got a lot of other lures to cover the shallower stuff and have much more confidence using them?
