Location: Sun Prairie, Wisconsin | Hi All, I had my new Tuffy X-190 on the water this weekend. The one "toy" I ordered that i know will help my catch fish is the i-pilot. With the built-in GPS... it is soooo easy to follow contours, lines, whatever! I never even used the foot pedal control. Really cool... Try it... you will love it! Badgerpat1

Posts: 897 | Is the I-Pilot able to maintain a consistent speed in current or waves? I just put the Co-Pilot feature on my Terrova...LOVE IT!

Posts: 742 Location: Grand Rapids MN | I had that same question whynot. It has a cruise control that will maintain speed but I don't know if you can use more than one function at a time. Ex: Cruise+AP I've looked online for this info but may have to call Minnkota to find out for sure. I'll be getting one regardless but that will just be the icing if so.

Posts: 131 | yup,you can use auto-pilot with cruise control in current.just did it this morning on the miss.i"m telling you,i have undoubtably caught several more fish[walleyes]because of the way the i-pilot lets me "work" the boat casting cranks, jigs, pulling rigs and fighting the current.it"s like i have a guide up front even when i"m not!the spot lock feature is worth the entire price of the motor and the other stuff it does makes it even sweeter deal. get someone to give you an on the water demo and you'll do what you gotta do to get one on your boat!

Posts: 136 | Do you guys think that you will use the foot control much with the i-pilot or is the hand control easy even with casting with both hands busy? Looking to get a new trolling motor but was looking at just auto-pilot, but for a liitle more up front it may be better to go with the i-pilot.

Location: Sun Prairie, Wisconsin | The i-Pilot has soooo many cool features! You have to spend the few hundred extra bucks. To be frank, I was very skeptical of the hand control concept. After a weekend of use...I find I have to make far fewer adjustments of the motor to follow a course and I can quickly and easily do it between casts. You still have the foot control if some atypical conditions crop up...but so far I'm loving the remote. Badgerpat1

| FYI, you will have to get a torrova to use both the foot pedal and hand control, powerdrive V2 you can only use the hand control. | |||

Posts: 65 Location: De Pere Wisconsin | I had read on another site that the i-pilot had somehow gone into a very high speed to compensate at times for wind gusts and that you need to be aware that it could happen and knock you off balance if you are not paying attention...anyone else have this experience or does that sound credible? I am surely going to be getting one for my terrova, and that is the only negative I have read so far ( besides some powerdrive users being bummed they can't use their foot pedal.)

| Thgis is great info. My Pinpoint crashed last week and I am looking at Terrova and Powrerdrive V2. Shoilds like the Teroova is the way to go? | |||

Posts: 25 | Isn't iPilot only a little more than auto pilot? I thought when I was looking at the two the difference was only about $60. It was a no brainer for me. Edit: Should have looked it up first I guess. 80lb terrova 60 inch shaft AP $1240 AP + US2 $1340 Ipilot + US2 $ 1380 It's worth the exrta cash. Edited by scares_fish 6/4/2010 8:10 PM

Posts: 136 | With the powerdrive you can't use the foot control, so do you guys think you can live with just the remote? The terrova with i-pilot is going to be of my budget, but could swing for the powerdrive, but not sure now since i would have no foot control, just not sure if that would be ok? May just have to go with auto-pilot instead? Any thoughts?

Posts: 81 Location: Indiana | I have the terrova so I can use the pedal but most of the year it has been in the storage compartment. If you are in really bad conditions it wouldn't hurt to be able to use the pedal. That being said one feature I love on the I-pilot is the spot lock. When it's really windy you can leap frog ahead and cover spots better then just following through with too high of speed to control the boat. Plus after you net a fish you can stay in the same area.
