Anyone have a good diagram that shows hooking up a 12v trolling motor to 2 12v batteries in parallel?
Thanks

Yup. Have two batteries on my 1690 set up for my MotorGuide wireless.

Here is a post from a while back that I used to set my boat up. I used Pic #4 for mine.

Nothing happens until/unless there is a problem (short) between the batteries and the TM. When too much current/amps are drawn through a wire (or any other component) with insufficient capacity it will create excess heat and may melt the components and/or wire. It can wreck the batteries in a hurry, as well.

Thanks for the info those drawings help. I already have my bow mount hooked up in parallel so if I am reading those diagrams right, when I hook up my transom mount all I have to do is put my + and - on the correct batteries and I should be fine.

anyone have a problem using 8 guage wire for powering their trolling motor or is it nesassary to go to 6ga.?

If you want full performance use #6 AWG. Using #8 AWG may work, but there's a good reason to follow the TM manufacturer's recommendation - performance at full power, especially at the end of the day when your batteries are getting lower in available voltage.

Have fun!
