| The hull of my boat is showing some wear in my hull/rivets from loading that concerns me. I have a bunk trailer and a Navigator 175. Has anyone had any experience with adding the in-line style of rollers to there bunks? (I saw them in Cabelas)
I have considered the teflon pads for the bunks, but don't think those will hold up to rivets sliding over them with the weight of my 175 Navigator on them.
I load and unload alot, 3-5 time per week, feb.-dec. so I know some wear is expected.
Any knowledge/experience is appreciated!

Location: Des Moines IA | My Karavan trailer under my Tuffy, actually has bunks in the rear, rollers up front, so I know it can be done. The original owner said, he tried both ways, and finally figured out the best set up for that particular boat is to use both. |

| Dont use the teflon pads, Ive heard of them wearing down in a year and the screws cutting into the hull |

Location: Mt. Zion, IL | make the bunks as long as possible. this will help to spread the weight out over more area when riding down the road. rollers actually put more stress on the hull (stress concentrations at the rollers) because the weight is on a smaller area. Go longer and wider with treated wood and staple carpet to the bunks making sure not to interfere with any vital parts of the hull (center runner, spray rails, etc.) |

| Thanks Muskie Mike, that may be my solution. My problem is the wear at the initial point of contact, and the next +/- 16" of rub as I am loading.
I am going to look into mounting these inline style rollers to the bunks at the point of initial contact ONLY, so that the boat can slide over easily prior to all the weight being applied evenly to the bunks as I pull out.
All the damage and wear is due to the friction prior to pulling out.

Almost sounds as if you might be a little bit shallow with your trailer as you load...
I'm curious as to where the wear is showing up on your bunk. Is it in the rear and what brand of trailer do you have?

| VMS,
It is a Prestige trailer came with the boat and has Alumacraft stamped on it. There are six bunks and the main wear is at the front +/- 12" of each bunk. Boat seems to load easily, w/o to much power from the 115.
I have always thought that it was the best trailer I have ever had experience with. I read my 20 year hull warranty, trying to guess which excuse the manufacture will use to get out of warrantying it, and I think they will use the 'improper trailering' clause.
