Posts: 431 | I would love to be a moron if it will get me lots of 3 fish days in the future. In fact, I think I'll make moron my new nickname. And who said anything about not fishing unless the moon phase is "right"? I fish when I can. I don't think anybody will argue that feeding windows happen. The key is to figure out why.

Posts: 723 | ive put a lot of time in around those 3days before or after with little to no results, on the other hand, the new moon is my honey, daytime and night, it has hands down shown me the love. I am definitely a firm believer that the moon plays a role in our world, just look at how crazy your drunk buddies get on a full moon night, or, if you wake up at odd times during those nights, or, arent as tired as you normally are. theres weird stuff going on out there that nobody has the answers to other than maybe area 51. ive seen deer do some crazy stuff during moon phases, let alone all of nature going crazy during an odd time during the day, or looking around, and everyone seems to be sleeping, even the birds. ive seen plenty of action come during those "phases" rise or set, underfoot or overhead, but im going to go with the moon being less important than a weather system coming in. Give me a moving barometer anytime of day, and thats what im going to put my money on. A buddy and I were fishing during what seemed like too nice of a day to be ski fishing, flat calm, bluebird skies, beautiful out. he had one of those barometer watches. this happened to be 1 1/2 days ahead of a big storm coming in. all day long we watched his little barometer reading fluctuate in small incriments either up or down, didnt matter, if it was moving, we were having windows of activity. we would go for a while without anything, and then see a bunch of fish or get a hit, and sure as heck, we would look at his trend, it had moved a little bit either way. now, put an awesome stable weather pattern into affect for 4 days. bring on a low pressure system, and throw a new moon phase in there. I guarantee that something good is going to happen! whatever trips a guys trigger to give you confidence to work a bait like its a part of you, thats what you need to put your faith into. its all about the PMA on the water. heres some food for thought, we eat roughly at the same times everyday right? sneak breakfast in there, lunch, dinner, sometimes varying and hour or so from time to time. I now fish are cold blooded, and humans need to eat to stay warm. so this isnt really a good comparison, but maybe skis have a certain personality of their own, as in, that one eats at 8 am and 10:12pm everyday, and the one 100yds down the weed edge eats at 9:13am and 11:25pm everyday. and it just so happens that you were fishing the right spot at the right time. one may never truly know. hehe thats why they call it fishing.

| I'm surprised I'm in the minority when I say I strongly believe in the influence of the moon. I've caught lots of fish in the past few seasons within minutes of a moonrise or moonset and a bunch within that 15 minute before/after window and most of my friends believe in it too. | |||

Posts: 69 Location: Pittsburgh | I would like to share a moon experience, although it has nothing to do with fishing really.I fish when the spirit moves me and for selfish pleasure. But anyway, when I was a lad I got a job at a state mental hospital, and because I was a large muscular lad, handsome also I might add. They made me the man in the white coat. one of the things I learned there was the moon definitely had a effect on the patients although they could not see it ,and some did not really know what year it was. none the less the time of the month. from this experience I am convinced that the moon has some effects on living things. Still I fish when and where I can.

Posts: 829 Location: Maple Grove, MN | I honestly have no idea if lunar activity matters or not. Sometimes it seems to, but just as often it doesn't seem to matter at all. The biggest factor for me is just being on the water. I haven't caught a thing yet when not on the water and have caught Muskies in all kinds of weather, moon phases, and fishing pressure situations. I have seen many times when the fish "should" be going and have been totally inactive. I have also seen many times when there wasn't a lunar, solar, or weather trigger of any kind and yet we caught fish. And I have no clue why either. The important thing is getting on the water because if that lure is in the water, one has a chance. Just my opinion.
