| Alright, I know this topic has been discussed a bit, but I thought I remember seeing that the algae bloom usually occurs in late August or early September. I am looking at booking a trip to LOTW August 22-29 and am wondering what the odds are that the algae bloom will be occuring then and what effect that will have on the fishing?
Any advice is greatly appreciated!

p.s. yes, i know i posted this on MH as well...just want to access all of the better sources of info on the web. Thanks! |

| What part of LOTW do you want to fish? You can stay in area's that will have little to no bloom that time of year...last year there was no bloom. |

Location: Warroad, Mn | In most of the dark water areas of the lake in late August there is an algae bloom.
Chances are around 85% algae, 12% less algae, 3% no algae. The Trout water areas of LOTWs don't really get an algae bloom.
It's still very possible to catch fish, just harder.

| Well if you stay @ Flag island resort say hi to Dan for me - and yes you will most likely be running many miles to "cleaner" water from Flag late Aug. |

| I am not that familiar with this algae bloom, but I will be staying at Young's Wilderness Lodge on Aug 29 - Sept 3. Does anyone know if this area of LOW will be affected by the bloom? |
