I have a Yamaha 80 four stroke and have used Sea Foam for years.

I was talking to someone that told me I should be using Yamaha brand "Ring Free."

Then I have also recently noticed the ads for Stabil Marine product.

What do you guys use and what would you recommend?

Thanks - Midge

Hiya,

I don't run any of them until fall...then I use stabil so that when I store the boat, the motor already has stabilized fuel in it, so the fogging of the engine is the only thing it needs.

Many people run seafoam in their tank all the time (or something similar) to keep the fuel stable, but also to keep the engine free of deposits, etc. What I have done is once a year, do a thorough engine cleaning using something like mercury powertune (it's like seafoam in a pressurized can). I get the motor up to temperature, then with the air box off, shoot the powertune directly into the intake, and get the motor to sputter and finally die. Then spray more in, let it sit, and 20 minutes later, take it to the lake and run it high to clean all the gunk out.... its a quick shot for a deep cleaning of valve seats, rings, heads, etc...
