Posts: 1185 Location: Wishin I Was Fishin' | The Musky Show's in the winter are the absolute best place to buy baits. Best prices, special colors, and you can talk right with some of the guys that make them.

Posts: 8842 | There's nothing like Rollie and Helens or Thorne Bros. if that's what you're looking for. All the big box retailers have some musky stuff, like an aisle or maybe even two, but if you're looking for something specific like Staylok snaps, or flourocarbon, muskie leaders, split rings, measuring sticks, lakewoods, or certain colors or brands of baits? I'd either wait until show season, or make a list of what you need and order it on line. I've talked to a couple of the fishing department guys at Gander, Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops, and they all say the same thing: "We don't sell a lot of musky stuff, so it really doesn't make sense to take up a lot of space with it." Makes sense I guess, since the closest muskie fishing is an hour and a half away. I think the big box retailers down here typically cater to the "wannabe outdoorsy" crowd who will to spend $75 on something fashionable that they will never actually NEED.

Posts: 485 Location: On my favorite lake! | Dave's in Crystal lake is good about 1/3 of store is musky and has alot of stuff you can't get in the Cabelas's and Bass pro's. Fishtech and Anglers international are also ok if crystal lake is too far a haul. I live up north and also go to Smokey's in Milwaukee when I really need something or have the chance.

Posts: 956 Location: Home of the 2016 World Series Champion Cubs | Any place that sells Muskie baits is ok by me. On top of the others mentioned, Water Werks II in wheaton/warrenville has some decent baits. Nothing really in the way of rods & reels and I don't know about lines. But if you're out that way stop in. Karl
