Hi,

Is anyone using the pre-tied flashabou for bucktails, and if so, by who. I see that Rollie's and Thorne's sell some, but I would prefer to get on a coil and I know Thorne's for sure is not on a coil based on my observation at their store.

I know Moore's also sells them, but he is not back for a few more weeks.

Thanks.

I tried r&h's last year. It's on a coil but it is tied like deer hair all coming out the same end. I ended up using it nose to nose like >< with my hook in between the two skirts. It worked great for a while. Now most of the flash is gone on the upside down skirt. I guess it can't handle the drag or blades. Not sure which. I've since started making my own or using sillicone. Musky customs is the silicone place I go. Fast shipper and great service.

Thanks for the heads up on R&H's.

I got a few good sources for my silicon skirts along with yours, but I was hoping for a couple on the flashabou side also.

You can easily make your own flash skirts with a zip tie and coil.

I bought a couple of pre tied flashabous from R+H last year. Some were tied with magnum flashabou and some of the same color were tied with saltwater flashabou. I am not as big a fan of the saltwater stuff, so I wasn't all that happy to see those ones.

Lurepartsonline.com has some 8" pre-tied to the coils. It all magnum flash but it looks pretty good. A little to pricey for me though......here's the link

If using zip ties, you MUST use a skirt collar to "hold" the material. I also put a dab of superglue on the collar and .....bulletproof!

I am starting to sell pre-tied flashabou skirts. I don't have them on my site yet though, but if your interested feel free to email me.
I have about a half a dozen colors now, but will be getting more colors and more inventoried quantities of each color..

They will be sold in packs of two, which will make one double ten. They are tied on a coil, with the flashabou going both directions.

They will be $6 per pack of standard, and $7 per pack of holoform flashabou.

I figured I'd post an example since I've had some interest through emails. I've actually got 12 colors right now, but most are VERY small quantities.

Thanks to all that have shown some interest.

I also have pretied skirts available. The "uniqueness" to what I have is "blended" colors. They are sold in 2 packs for $7.99 The difference is how the colors are completely mixed. I have attached a picture of a "walleye" color that I make which incorporates 3 colors. Have also done 4 and 5 color combos, completely blended. I can do custom color combos, but in minumum quanities. Send me an email if interested

If you are interested in replicating DCGs style skirts, keep in mind most of those have a healthy dose of the 'clear' or 'clear tinted' flash mixed with the regular colored mag flash. This is what gives the DCGs that feature where the skirts seem to 'stand up' rather than lying limp. Most of the pre tied flash that is sold does not blend this 'clear' flash that is less limp. So when I build my skirts, i blend a one part 'clear' and one part regular colored mag flash to more closely replicate DCGs. Why? What DCGs obviously work, but I'm too #*^@ed cheap to pay $24 a pop, so I try to make mine as close to DCGs as I can. Not sure if my description makes any sense, but look closely at the skirts on DCGs and I think you'll see what I mean.

You are correct. It adds a little more "body". Truth is - not all want that in their mix. Their definately is a difference in thickness of materials. The thin stuff just gets tangled way too much. Great thought and advice.
