I'm not a fan of the Columbia pants, but like the Simms and Under Armour, preferring UA. Spendy but worth it.

All i used to wear when I was a kid. Start the morning with the pants on, when it gets hot unzip the legs and you got nice cool shorts. Also some brands have plenty of pockets and reinforced knees.
