My buddies and I are taking our second MUSKY trip out to Indiana's Webster Lake. We are all 19 and are die hard fisherman. Bassin was our favorite, but now Musky fishing has become amazing. Just wondering from anyone who fishes the lake....How is it down their now? How is the lake when nearing summer? Our trip is probably in the summer close to July/August. Is topwater effective? We did lots of searching and know it is a very small lake with lots of Musky in it. Hoping we can say it was a Trip of a Lifetime. Any help/information would be amazing. Thank you everyone, we are glad to be part of the HUNT.

Posts: 1901 Location: MN | Only problem with your timing is the potentially high water temps you are likely to encounter then. Better to go sometime between now and early June or so, then again in the fall. When the shad spawn in May can be pretty good. Good luck if and when you do go.

Posts: 458 | Agree with Propster about the water temps and you really want to leave the muskies alone when the water is high because you can accidentally kill them. Also agree that May is a good time and you can contact Ye Olde Tackle Shop and talk to them about the fishing and they have some great musky baits and stock suckers and quickstrike rigs. I have listed the link to Ye Olde Tackle and a link to Mike Hulberts forum where you could post questions and get some reports. Good luck! http://www.yeoldetacklebox.com/Bait-and-Tackle.html http://www.mikehulbert.com/indiana_fishing_reports.shtml

Good points by all posters! Here's the 4-1-1 on ol' Webster.Depending on the weather, of course, it's usually great from May through July 4th weekend. After that point the temps become pretty brutal for fish and fishermen alike. HOWEVER--the fishing can be fantastic if the temps don't get too "out of control". last year we had a pretty "mild" summer--the water temps really didn't soar off the charts. Fishing was consistent all summer long. Plastics of every size/shape/color were taking fish. As well as BIG bucktails and topwaters. The fall bite was pretty awesome too----we put 16 muskies in the boat the last three weekends of the season including a 50 and a 47.5. You just gotta go fish your confidence lures---ME---I love Big Bull Dawgs--kickin'minnows----DCGs-----Docs------topraiders-----believers-----Burts-----Jakes---etc....... they all work ou there---pick the ones you don't mind chucking all day long and you'll find fish. The best part about Webster is that the fish only have approximately 744 acres to swim around in----can't wait for May----Pat
