Location: Sun Prairie, WI | Joe is currently working with Frabill and JBO to make them available to the public. It's still undecided as to whether or not it will happen. It's an ongoing project according to an email I got from him on 1/23/10 when I asked him the very same question.

Posts: 2687 Location: Hayward, WI | I wonder what kind of material they will use for the bag. Joe seems to prefer a thin, light bag on his nets. Seems to get some pretty nasty looking tangles with the bag he uses! I'm sure if he's working with Frabill they will come up with something good. A lighter net would be a good thing for the guys that fish alone a lot. curleytail

Posts: 458 | I called Frabill customer service and they have never heard of this project so it will probably be some time. I like the idea.

Why wait for Frabil to make a new light musky net,you can purchase a Beckman Magnum Fin Saver Net and net your fish alone with one hand while you hold the rod & fish with the other hand. Capt. Larry

Posts: 999 | Joe wrote about this net in his latest article in MH. I can see where a light net could be beneficial to an angler fishing alone but like Curleytail mentioned above most of Joes fish gator roll in the net and I cant imagine how long Joe spends getting that mess untangled not to mention the fishes head is out of the water most of the time while he's doing this. The coated bags and the finsaver nets are surely the way to go in this day an age! Mr Musky Edited by Mr Musky 3/5/2010 11:02 AM

because beckmans all though light-weight get tangled messes almost every time a fish goes in one. If you havent used a frabill powercatch or big kahuna i suggest you try it. nothing beats the rubberized coating. my buddy has a beckman and every time I drive up to fish with him he asks me to bring my frabill.

Location: Sawyer County, WI | I net my own fish in a Big Kahuna all the time. For me, the size of the net makes it a bit more cumbersome but if you are set up in advance it isn't really a problem. If the weight of a Frabill net is truly a problem, I suggest you hit the gym in the offseason !

I use to get tangled net roll ups with the old Beckman Nets ,but not with the square treated bag on the Beckman Magnum Fin Saver Net.Try holding a Frabil Big Kauna Net in 35 mph + winds and scooping your fish in big waves at the same time.I've owned the Frabil Kauna, now the only net in my boat is the Beckman Magnum Finsaver Net,just so much easier to work with. StowMaster has new Guardian Netting for this year. Much lighter and faster in the water.

Posts: 1887 Location: syracuse indiana | now for fishing alone the frabill power catch kwik kradle (pete maina design) he desinged it for the ease of a fisherman on his own, for being able to pull the fish into the bag and being able to contral the net easier than the kahuna, i have both and love both of them...bill

Posts: 32886 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Frabill already makes a light weight net, the Power atch. It's big, easy to use, and light with netting that doesn't get tangled up. The yoke locks with a single pull, too, no positioning the handle. The Big Kahuna is a truly huge net, and huge will weigh more no matter the netting. Stow Master has new netting out, as mentioned above. Lindy makes a good net in the Beckman, too.
