Posts: 351 | I have a bunch of baits underway and I finished a few too. I'm working on a couple of modifications of a jerk bait I started testing over the last 3 years. I'll post it in a few weeks. I'm kind of excited about that one. Here's the few I just completed. Stogie Jerk 6 3/4 inch Golden Redhorse, silver pearl/white pearl belly 4 inch Albino mini Flatshad in pearls Golden Perch Rocket Shad, orange belly (made 3 similar to this in the Rocket Shad) 5 1/2 inch Torpedo in Metallic Redhorse 9 inch Slopehead in redhorse; irridescent eyes, light Aztec gold pearl belly scales

Posts: 1106 Location: Muskegon Michigan | Very nice work Vince. My wife wants to know what that 9 inch slopehead does. Does it fish at all like a Burt? My wife loves the squirrelly Burts but hates the failing plastic crap. She has been after me to design and build her a wooden lure that acts like a Burt. We might be interested in getting some of those bodies from you. Let me know asap. [email protected]

Posts: 351 | Thanks for all the feedback you guys. Its a lot of fun to hear from so many great builders on this forum. Kingfisher, the Slopehead is weighted specifically to keep the bait down while maintaining a lively action and allowing the user to work the rod tip in a number of different rhythms to see what might trigger a strike. It functions like a cross between a good jerk bait and a glider. It is a wooden bait. I make them in different sizes and I also build them to operate at different layers of the water column. My absolute favorite way to catch a musky is throwing a jerk bait. It never gets old for me, so consequently I tend to pay a lot of attention to what produces strikes and what does not. Next time I'm running those in the basement, I'll make one for your wife on the house.
