Posts: 73 Location: sw pa | i was wondering if the telescopic rods ever slid back to the storage size when reeling in a muskie? also was wondering what 9' size is comparible with the 8'6'' st croix premiere?

Posts: 2687 Location: Hayward, WI | I doubt anyone has ever had the rods slide back in at all while fishing them. I think you'll find the opposite - the actions of fishing and catching fish tend to pull the rod out snugly rather than pushing the blank back into the handle. I have not had any problems with the telescopic feature of my Okuma, nor have I heard of anybody else having a problem with it. I haven't handled the newest Okuma rods, but I will guess the 9'3 XH Okuma is the closest in comparison to the 8'6" Premier. I have a feeling the 8'6" XXH Okuma might be close to the St. Croix 8'6", but I'm just guessing? curleytail

Posts: 415 Location: madison wisconsin | Any EVX is a great buy for the money. I throw about everything with my 8'6"XH. The only difference from my other rods is that with the softer tip you have to give it a bit more in the figure 8's but that's minimal.

Guess I could reply to the main question as well. I have run a telescopic Tica the last 2 years and never had any issues with it. Liked the telescopic factor enough that I have one of the 9'3" EVXs waiting to get used this year.

Posts: 203 Location: Germantown, WI | Joel, I ordered an 8'6" XH from Amazon.com back in January for $95.99 with free shipping. They've still got the free shipping deal going, but the 8'6" XH is now selling for $119.99. The 8'6" H is still $95.99 with free shipping.

Hi's Tackle Box out in San Francisco. Free shipping on orders of $100 or more and you'll get an additional $5.00 off if you enter coupon Code HTB5A. If you don't see what you want, call them, super nice people. I've ordered 2 and A friend living in Berkley, who shops there on a regular basis, had me order him 2 and ship to my home in Minneapolis for a fall musky trip. With the on line discount and no tax he saved about $14 per rod. John

Location: Northern Wisconsin | Free shipping seems like a good deal but I cant get the coupon to work. It says it's an invalid code. Anyone else get it to work?
