Who has used this lure and what are your thoughts? I saw this lure and the video at the Milwaukee show and was impressed with the action.

I used it briefly at the end of last season... late August in Rusk County. From first impressions, it is a solid lure. It really threw a lot of water around. I was using a reel fast/stop retrieve and that seemed to really stir some fish up. Had a mid 40's nail it right at dusk, came completely out of the water. I knee jerked it and cost me a good hook up. I will be using it this season a lot more.

I was using the black/orange. I saw they had a new Bluegill pattern at the Milwaukee Show, may have to buy that before the season.

I haven't had them long enough to really gauge on the Tin Heads. I'm sure Corey will chime in when he sees this. On their Livid Fish the Sunburst pattern has been my best seller.

I threw the Tin Head a bit towards the end of last season and liked it. It couldn't be any easier to use as the action is built in. The long, tall body leaves a wake! Had a swirl boat side at night using one. It will see more time on the water this season!

Sunburst has been a good seller for us in both the Livid Fish and the tin Head. That Bluegill looks nice though!

I walk away from this darn computer for just two days!! I've been cutting out Livid Fish with Josh all weekend!!

Anyway....

For the most part, everything that needs to be said about the Tin Head has been said above, but I'll try to add something--keeping in mind, of course, that I am a biased contributer. I think there are four significant advantages to the Tin Head, that perhaps other top waters have as individual attributes but perhaps don't combine in one package. First, is the ease of use. The Tin Head is a no-brainer, it is so easy to cast and retrieve AND there is absolutely no wrong way to use it. Second, the lure has no speed limit on it. You can burn the Tin Head back to the boat as FAST as you want. There are top waters out there I love to use, but I had to slow down to keep them working properly. You can fish it deadly slow as well. mcgeissler already mentioned the start-stop method he was using. Third, disruption and sound. The Tin Head throws a lot of water and gurgles the entire ride back to the boat. Fourth, and maybe the most overlooked quality of the Tin Head, is how easily you can figure-eight it. Some other "big-lipped" lures can be tough to use boat-side.

As foolish as it sound, I have trolled three Tin Heads at speeds just over 3 miles an hour---you can do anything with this lure!

It's really too early in the Tin Heads life-cycle to point to a "hot" color. I can tell you that at the Milwaukee show, black was our best Tin Head color.

I haven't been on here much lately, but I just saw this thread and thought I'd comment. I threw the Tin-Head a little bit this past year...mostly late summer as I didn't have it until then. Sweet bait for after dark! I had quite a few muskies shark-attack them, but haven't quite hooked up with any yet. Also had a few misses and then follows to the boat. Have to run to class, but hopefully get on here to write more tonight. Great bait and can be used for many situations...looking forward to using it on LOTW this summer. Also, didn't get to read all of Cory's message yet, but this bait, as weird as it seems, is relatively weedless; I couldn't believe what I could put it through and have it come back and run properly the whole while. It was a hit on attracting fish on Vermilion this summer!

NAZE BAITS will be at the upcoming New London musky show this Sunday (3/21). Plenty of Tin Heads available with a live pool side demo for all the vendors. See ya there!

This is not to denigrate Tin Head. But isn't this an elongated version of the Arbogast Jitterbug?

You cant fish a Arbogast Jitterbug very fast, but can burn a Tinhead in if you want to and trigger a strike.

The Tin Head is a much more versatile bait. Check the You Tube video above and you'll see some of the things you can do with the Tin Head.

All jitterbug style lures operate alike essentially. The size of the body that is being pulled behind the jitterbug bib influences the action though. The size of the Tin Head's body keeps the lure low in the water, and thus more easily fished fast--really fast or slow--really slow. When we played around with body sizes for this lure we noticed the influence of body size on retrieval rates.

With that being said, I'm not comparing the design/creation of the Tin Head to the discovery of like....say...plutonium...but it sure is close!! ; )
