Posts: 1237 Location: South Portsmouth, KY | edalz - 2/25/2010 4:28 PM The 10' rods have been out for a while and I got one at the 2009 Chicago show. I got another 10' rod this past January at the 2010 show and was told by Rollie and Helens that they were clearing them out. The rod I got was half price and R & H said they did not sell well and they could not ship the rods because of the length. I really like the 10' rods and on rough days it is much easier and safer to do figure 8's. What price did they have the 10 footers cut down to?

Location: SE Wisconsin | I like them for any day/condition. I think it helps to draw big circles with a super long rod in every situation. Starting from the beginning, you can lead the lure away from the boat from further out to a more extensive degree to draw the fish away from the boat before going into the 8. Once in the 8, just having that extra couple feet allows you to make bigger circles when you need to and do it a little further out, plus, when you're fishing deep and your have a submarine below you, it really helps when you want to bury that rod in the water up to your reel seat if need be... Just realize that you have to be the incredible hulk to be doing many one handed 8's with this size rod because of the flex from the length when dragging through the water. My absolute favorite detail of a catapult like this is the ease it puts into lobbing big heavy baits. The distance of the cast is one benefit, the ease of the motion is the other. Since casting big heavy baits, like dawgs, doesn't require a snap cast, rather more of a lob, a long rod is an awesome tool to get the job done - just be sure to buy the right weight. A stiff backbone with a moderately fast tip is what I'm packing. I think they may not have sold well because of the original price tag vs. the risk of making such a big purchase without having heard much about them. Most people feel safer buying into a rod they are used to or that isn't far from what their used to, like 8 footers and 8'6. I'm fortunate enough to have a friend with a custom built St. Croix that reaches 9'6 and has really divulged it's advantages. Furthermore, I think about all those surf fisherman, like in Norway, where they use 11' to 12' rods to lob those heavy weights way out from the beach.

Posts: 458 | Normal price is $250 and I paid $125. I called Rollie and Helens and asked if they had more and they guy said the last (3) were at the Ohio show this weekend. Good luck!

Location: MN | I've have two experiences with the Musky Innovation rods; one good and one bad. Rod #1: One of the original super mag models from years ago. Great rod and still in normal use today. This rod used to be a pool cue but has softened up and is a real nice stick to throw. Rod #2: I believe this rod was their low-end model which they sold at Gander (I bought new from a buddy). The rod blew up when I set the hook on a pike; needless to say I was a little turned off by these lower end rods produced by MI. If anyone is dying for details, I can give you the specs when I get home.

Posts: 1184 Location: Iowa Great Lakes | One thing about the rods we have is the guides wraps need or have been replaced on the 4 we own, 1 broke on a fish. Many seem to like them but IMO theres better out there. Mine has 2 broke/cracked wraps at the moment and on a rod with maybe 30 hours use max in 2 years. It just wears me out casting it since it's a heavy rod.

Posts: 458 | muskie_man - 2/25/2010 10:53 PM What type action is the 10 footer in? One is a medium action rated 3/4 ounce to 4 ounce and the other is a extra heavy rated 4 ounce to 16 ounce. I am not sure if there is something in between.
