Posts: 42 | Hi, what diameter do you think is good/enough for fishing big rubbers like mag dawgs? What diameter is safe for fishing pike with smaller rubbers like 3 inch twin tails? Thanks Roger from a very, very snowy Sweden

Location: Northern Illinois | Started using fluro 5 or 6 years ago. Me and my buddies have probably hooked and landed over 7500 pike in those 5 or 6 years on our Canadian pike lodge trips. Including 200-300 fish over 41 inches. All with 80-100 pound Flouro. No issues what so ever. My brother wanted to see how long a 80 pound flouro leader would last. He fished the same leader for an entire week ( probably 300- 400 fish) and it still never failed. I think most guys are using 100-130 pound for muskies, with 130 the norm for bigger baits.

I don't use anything less than #130. In the upcoming '10 season I'll be using #150 from Stealth.

Posts: 2753 Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | Steve W. I would really like to know why my post was deleted, i.e., I didn't slander anyone, nor did I use any profanity. I expressed my opinion, about why I didn't feel diameter wasn't important. I could have posted all the flouro manufacturer's names, I didn't. Instead I gave Roger a clue. BTW: he got it right. How is this different than the custon rod thread? If the moderator does'nt agree with me, can't they express their opinion? Deleting my post because you disagree is not an opinion , it's censorship without reason or cause. Yes, this supposedly a moderated public forum on a commercial website, it still doen't make it right to delete posts based on personal bias's. If this is the future of MF, I'm out of here! Al.

Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | I'm a very big fan of YO-ZURI H.D. F/C for your smaller baits I would use 100# and for your baits over 3oz I would use 130# and if your are casting anything over 8oz baits go with 150# test. Attachments ---------------- ![]()
