| It's getting a little quiet out here so here it goes. I love slow rolling blg blades at night. I struggle late in the night feeling the bait getting close to the boat to time my figure 8. You know the feeling! Crunch goes the leader to the rod guide and then go into a poorly timed 8. The best thing i've found is to hook up a glow stick (snap and glow) in front of the leader which you can see coming from 6' away and works great! When I've asked this question to a few experienced musky fisherman they give me the impression the glow may spook the fish? I have caught fish using this method but wonder if it does decrease my odds?
To make a long story shorter what is the best method when night fishing to see (or feel) your bait coming in?

Location: musky waters of SE, WI | Gregg Thomas's leader system works perfect. Don't have to worry about the swivel hitting the rod top. Once you feel the knot go through the guide you will know to figure8. Great leader |

| I like to just add a small glow bead on to each of my leaders. But nothing big, just a little glow bead.

| Why don't you use a headlamp that had a red light? I do, I know people are against any light on, on the boat at night and want it completely dark. Others who also somewhat light up the night, and both catch fish, which way catches more? I don't know, mainly because I don't care to research. I can see the lure coming in everytime and can have a perfectly time figure 8 and can see the fish if it's following the bait. |

| I use a soft glow bead and force it over the top ring of my swivel. The soft bead is easy on your guide and protects your knot, although I've never had a problem with that anyway. I don't even use the glow part of it. That's just what color I have. It doesn't really glow long enough anyway. Thornes has these soft beads, get the largest size they've got, they'll know what your asking for. |

This is what i was thinking about doing! Something you can feel to signal your motion into the eight. I use the glow beads to protect the guides more than anything but there hard to see.

Location: lansing, il | I know some guys use the bobber stops and they work very well for them. The Thomas Leader also works great for night fishing, as soon as you feel the knot tick the tip its time to figure 8. We came out with a night leader with a glow bead 2 years ago and the biggest problem with them is the fact that they dont glow very long and you constantly have to charge them with a light. This past summer I had Dan from Glowin Outdoors use some of his Glowin Outdoors tape to come up with our new and improved Night Leader(pictured). the Glow Tape on the leader will stay bright for over an hour at a time. It is secured on the leader very well and will not come off. We ran them all last summer with no issues at all. I think this is one of those things you just need to use some trial and error and find out which application you like best, luckily there are lots of options.

Location: The Yahara Chain | Another vote for Glowin Outdoors. Just put a little piece of it on your leader, it works much better than a glow bead. Dan's product really holds a charge for a long time. |

| Definitely check out the Stealth / Glowin' Outdoors leader, that glow tape lasts waaay longer than those beads so you don't have to constantly recharge it all night.
i know there were a number of people using this leader system last year after the Glowin' Outdoors tape came out and were saying "shhhhh!" about it. but John and Dan's collaboration means everyone can benefit from it now and get those good figure 8s done at night.
