Is there any way to tell the difference between cady and mojo weagles?

Mojo have a clearcoat. Cady don't.

Also, a lot of the Cady's have a white dot on their head, but not all of them.

Bob,

There's a couple of ways that can be indicators. One would be the paint job. Many of the patterns were different from a Cady to a Mojo. When Luke frequented the boards more often he was great about clarifying if they were a Mojo or not just by a picture. If you have a postal scale, the Cady Weagles will likely be slightly heavier. But if the weights are the same and paint jobs are identical, I don't know of a way to tell any difference.

Not always true about the clearcoat. Many mojo weagles had nice clearcoats. Many early and many of the final four runs had thick clear coats.

Weight, paint job, type of wood... Some of Steve's later models did have clearcoat, so that's not necessarily a good indicator. Your best bet would be post a picture of it.

I can't get to the laptop right now to post pics. I'm on my phone. I have a perch with clearcoat that I'm sure is a mojo and the other has chart bottom with black top. Scales down the sides black dots with chart webbing. The eyes are recessed not flush clearcoat like the perch

The black/chart has a narrower metal fitting around the hole you snap the leader onto as well.

Black/White head is definitely pre-Mojo.

im guessing mine is cady after seeing the nose. the nose on mine has a little step by the rivet. on the perch one it doesnt have that. the eyes are different though. mine in question has recessed eyes.

The guy I bought it from didn't think it was. He said it was either early mojo or late cady but wasn't sure.

My guess is the black one looks like a Satisfier.

Here's a couple pics of a Cady to compare to:

I'm thinking it's a cady. The nose and eyes are the same as yours.

Thanks jimten

Can anyone picture a 2065 episode of antiques roadshow right now? Or more likely, pawnstars, probably. "What we have here, is a genuine stink pickle Weagle by Steve Cady, estimated at auction to be worth $8,000 to $10,000. I'll give you $500 for it."
