Subject: Operation Muskie - Veterans needed!

Operation Muskie is an all-expenses paid, fully guided fishing trip for military veterans with recent combat zone service (1995-present).

20 lucky veterans will fish for muskies from the boats of a world-class list of guides: Jim Best, Chad Cain, Doug Johnson, Paul Klein, Pete Maina w/John Gillespie, Jim Murphy, Ed Spoerl, and Norm Wild.

This year there will be a special addition: 2 vets each day will get to share a boat with the best walleye sticks in the world at the same time: Keith Kavajecz and Gary Parsons!

It would be awesome if this could be offered to every veteran, but there is only room for 20 vets each year. This year's vets will be selected using an application process. The application is now available online at the Op Muskie website - just look for the "Veterans" area and you can download it right from there along with instructions. Applications are due by February 28th.

There is also an Operation Muskie discussion board where you can chat about the event, ask questions about the application process, etc. Fundraising auction information will be following soon.

If you're a vet who would like to be involved, please submit an application. If you know an eligible vet, please pass the word to them!

Hey Mike,

As an old guy that fought in the Civil War, Am I eligible ?? LOL !!

This sounds like a really good time, I'm sure all of the Vets will have a blast.... This is something we all need to get behind and support.
The fishing sounds really good, ..... but..... I'd rather be around the campfire at night just listening to some of these guys stories.....

To all involved in this program/event, I applaud your efforts. This is a great thing your doing!
As a Gulf War Veteran myself, i'm curious as to why Vet's from the 1991 Gulf War (Desert Storm) or Vet's from any conflict (pre-1995) are excluded?

i don't speak for the founders/organizers, but my understanding is that the intent was definitely not to exclude anyone, but rather to provide this as a tangible thank-you for more "recent" vets and that was defined as those who'd served in the Balkans, Iraq, or Afghanistan.

It would be nice to make a donation in memory of Jack Burns. He was a proud supporter of Operation Muskie
