Use Devcon 2 ton epoxy, the 30 minute stuff (2500lb). Drill a pilot hole for the screw eye, I screw the eye in first with no epoxy to groove the hole. Then mix up epoxy well and use a tooth pick to force the epoxy into the hole, then add epoxy to the screw eye threads and screw eye in. Wipe off excess.
I get my epoxy at a local hardware store.
Welcome aboard, I hope this helps,
MS

Location: Freedom, WI | I use gorilla glue, squeeze glue into the hole and put the screweye in. Instructions tell you to wet the wood, but it really is not necessary with screweyes. As it sets the glue will foam out of the hole, either wipe it off before it sets or cut it off after drying. It holds to the point of screweyes breaking if you try to back them out after it is set. It is also waterproof. |

| You're right Roger. I didn't like it at first because of the foam, but I like removing the foam instead of mixing the 2-ton and working as fast as I can before it starts to set up. |

Location: Hugo, MN | Gorilla glue works incredibly well. I use a piece of bucktail wire to insert the glue into the tapped holes. Never had one come loose. |
