Sounds a little too focused? Feel better about this:
48"+ lost on a sucker
45" lost on the shaker
42" lost on a ghosttail
40" lost on a violent strike spinnerbait
I suck, since June 1st, not a fish in the boat.

| A bait that has been pretty consistent for me and doesn't get all the glory like the gliders and such would be my bucktails. Good ole Mepps Musky Killer/Mepps Musky Magnums to be exact. But never-the-less there really hasn't been a single bait in my box that's been cleaning house consistently.
In Canada last week I had caught fish on bucks, cranks, jerks, and topwater. But the one bait that gave me the most action was a 9" weighted Bobbie.
A couple weeks prior to this the 8" & 10"Jakes, and Depth Raiders were the staple diet for the suspendos.
I had raised my share of ugly, fat mommas on gliders, but they didn't eat the drunken jerkbait. So I retired the gliders until fall when they will finally start grabbing it more(that doesn't mean I won't throw them though if things get way too slow and we need to locate some fish).
All the baits in the box have been getting their looks, but the crankbaits, jerkbaits, and bucktails have been getting their licks.
catch ya later,
Krappie
P.S. Sorry I was so vague in this post on what was the hot tamale, but I'm still searching for the holy grail. The only problem is I don't think there is such a lure in musky fishing though. |

| Spoonplugs still seem be working,,,,
Even after 50 years plus,,,, "of fish seeing them",,,, who ever said a fish was smart???? or could learn.....You don't need a "hot" new bait,, or a "new bait" at all,,,or a new "hot" action just put something,, anything on there nose,,, and bango you got em![;)] |

| Gotta go with the 8" and 10" Jake, and the Perch & Bluegill colored Ernies. 0 fish on bucktails, but then again I haven't thrown them hardly at all. |
