Posts: 34 Location: madison chain | my friend has them for his ranger 621 w 250yammie. I think they work great. Keeps the motor nice and straight. Easy on and off and just throw them in a boat compartment when not in use.

Posts: 406 Location: Stones throw away...finally!! | Am I understanding correctly that this would replace a transom saver?

As far as replacing a transom saver, the weight of the out board is still on the transom with m-ywedge. What it does do it alieviates the wieght from you trim hydraulics while trailering. That's the way I see it.

Posts: 1460 Location: Kronenwetter, WI | my motor has a little flip down lever the marina staff I purchased it from said would work fine no transom saver needed. Why so many guys use transom savers/wedges?

Posts: 3508 Location: Elk River, Minnesota | Good Evening, The reason they use the transom savers and wedges is that when the motor is tilted up to some extent (or fully) the lower unit acts like a big lever, which when you travel down the road and the trailer bounces a bit (due to no shock absorbers) that lower unit sits there and bounces as well, which, many will argue over time will weaken the transom. That little lever keeps the hydraulics safe, but it will flex quite a bit because it is soft metal. So...a motor that is tilted all the way up creates the largest lever (and essentially has the most amount of weight that can move vertically) so that little lever holds it up, but the lower unit has a bunch of flexing in it, which transmits directly to the transom. when you put on a wedge or a transom saver, what you are doing is stopping the flexing since you are creating a support that does not allow the lower unit to "bounce" so to speak. When you remove the bouncing effect, there is no chance of any damage to your equipment. If anything, many people would say it is a few dollars spent to potentially save any damage later on.... | almost got one for my new yamaha as i also bought a new trailer and it didn't have a roll bar to fix the transom saver. asked the dealer about them and was told yamaha's warranty is void if a traditional transom saver is not used. not sure if that is true or how they would know if you do or do not use one but i stuck with a transom saver. had to put a mount for it on my new trailer..which was easy. the my wedge does look like it would be a lot easier that is for sure, assuming their concept works. makes sense to me.

Posts: 378 Location: Michigan | I have been using the mywedge and centering clips (different mfgr) for 2 years on my Yamaha 225 4-stroke. Works like a champ! Very handy and much less cumbersome than the traditional transom saver.
