Posts: 829 Location: Maple Grove, MN | I think we should just start over with a new World record. How about we just start a Muskie First world record and forget about those old ones that everyone knows are, uh, questionable? How about the fish next to my login name? Would that serve as a new world record? It looks like its just as big as the Johnson and Spray fish. Unfortunately, I didn't do a very good job of measuring it so its hard to give the exact size. That and there have been hundreds of larger fish caught the past couple of years (I've seen the pictures).  I'm sure many of you have caught much larger fish than the one I caught. Posts: 7083 Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | I nominate my wife's monster. First fish entered, so it's the baseline at 36". Girth was somewhere around 29", as I recall.

Posts: 829 Location: Maple Grove, MN | musky-skunk, Cute fish! Kingfisher, That is a nice fish! My wife had a big fish hit on Mille Lacs a few years ago. Unfortunately, it got off so no picture to show. I still hear about it though. Yes, it was all my fault it got off...... Anyone have any other big fish pictures to share? Big fish pictures are fun. | ||

Posts: 829 Location: Maple Grove, MN | Wow, that is a nice bunch of replicas, but are they real? And which is the largest replica? Do we weigh the replicas or do released replicas count? I checked into getting a replica of my fish and got two estimates of $675. Hmm. Seems a picture is good enough for me.... Maybe we need a world record replica instead? Those big fish are way to hard to catch. | ||

Posts: 123 | The picture I posted is of Rick Lax and his associates carrying replicas to the 2006 Muskies Inc. Spring Board meeting. All were done free of charge and went to the anglers who caught the largest fish in their divisions. I'm sure it would cost around $800+ for a replica of that size, and I think all three of these were around 50+ inches. Can't recall. | ||

Posts: 829 Location: Maple Grove, MN | I was quoted $12.50 an inch, but that was at the MN Expo last year. One can save a few dollars by waiting for the shows. I believe the regular prices range from 13 to 14 dollars an inch so a 55 inch Muskie could cost nearly $800. Add something extra like driftwood and it could be a little more. Those replicas sure are nice and are well worth the money. The detail is amazing and they last forever. But one still has to clear it with the wife. Someday... | ||
