| Wondering what's accepted or expected when buying or selling a rod. Never done either. I have a couple rods I need to get rid of, don't know what I'm getting into.
Do I need to buy a piece of PVC tubing? What else tubular would work? Do I bubble wrap it? Please describe packaging.

Location: Wheeling, IL. | any long tube works. some manufacturers use light PVS others Cardboard. You can use FedEx Ground, nuo sure about UPS. If using FedEx Ground, go to any Kinkos and shoe it to them, they may have what you need. |

Location: oswego, il | I have shipped St. Croix rods back for repair. I have some cardboard tubes that i used and wrapped the tip, middle and butt in bubbule wrap then taped so it is snug in the tube. The post office will ship them much cheaper than UPS. Last rod i shipped was 12 bucks vs 30 for UPS. If you do not have cardboard use pvc but do check what the ratio of diameter to length is at the post office because there is a parameter they will check if they think it is too narrow for it's length. | I bought a rod from Reeds and they shipped in in a 4 inch PVC tube with cardboard tapped to the ends. I don't recall the cost. The PVC was thin walled & not real heavy. |

| pack it in pvc or a cardboard tube.
if it's in the upper Midwest, use Spee-Dee to ship rods.
they'll pick it up at your door, costs only around $10, and gets it there quick.
waaaaaay better than dealing with U.S. mail and cheaper than the big companies.

Location: Land of the Musky | I ship a lot of rods. Mine are all in .25" thick cardboard tubes that a 250lb man can stand on. Triple wrap the ends with bubble wrap and tape real good. SpeeDees is great if you are in the territory but if not use FedEx Home Delivery. USPS is also good for rods around 100" and under. Again, make your rods tight in the tube. I lost about 10 rods when I first started shipping due to rough rides. LOL here is a picture of one that I had go to Canada the "hard" way. Sometimes when they are dropped out of a plane and then ran over again and again by semi trucks you can do nothing about it  Just for fun make sure you insure it too.

| The light pvc tube works fine.
Go to a carpet store and ask for the tubing the carpets come on.
Since I've given Thorne Bros. so much money the last 2 years I reuse their tubing.
Bubble wrap the tip butt,and in the middle. |

Location: Palm Coast, FL | USPS sucks! I had 4 rods come to me broke and I had insurance on them. It took 8 months for them to give me the money to replace and multiple trips/emails/phone calls. |
