With the turning of the calendar, many people start making plans for next summer's fishing trips. As in the past 2 years, once again this year 20 lucky military veterans are going to be able make plans that include an all-expenses-paid, fully guided muskie fishing trip! Operation Muskie is a non-profit organization that provides a tangible "thanks" to military veterans who have had recent deployments to overseas warzones. This takes the form of 4 days of muskie fishing at Walsh's Baystore Camp in the Northwest Angle of Lake of the Woods. The veterans share a boat with 10 of the best guides in the muskie fishing world, a group lead by the likes of Dick Pearson and Doug Johnson. If you're an interested vet, Operation Muskie would like to take you fishing! Please visit http://www.operationmuskie.com for information on how to apply. Putting together a trip of this magnitude takes a lot of time, effort, and unfortunately a lot of money, too. Hosting and supplying the veterans and guides each year is a very large expense. Through the help of individual donations, industry contributions, and a fund-raising auction the costs have been met the last 2 years. Operation Muskie needs your help to continue to provide this well-earned fishing "R&R" for our military vets. If you'd like to help, Operation Muskie would love love to hear from you. Please visit the new website: http://www.operationmuskie.com You'll find contact information on what you can do to lend a hand, such as making a donation or buying even buying a t-shirt. Once again this spring Operation Muskie will be holding a fund-raising auction. This was an extremely popular event last year, and through the very generous donations and winning bids, a substantial portion of the annual costs were covered! Stay tuned for future announcements - full details will be posted on the Operation Muskie website, which includes a forum for discussions and any comments that you might have. http://operationmuskie.com There are a couple opportunities at the Chicago Muskie Show to support Op Muskie, and all proceeds help get veterans fishing on Lake of the Woods. Please stop by their booths and check them out! - H20 Tackle / Roger Watters will have a cash donation box at his booth. - Hog Head Lures / Don Schwartz will be selling Operation Muskie hats, as well as a special edition topwater lure with a flag and eagle design. Posts: 4053 Location: Land of the Musky | Count me in for a few boxes of lures and rods again this year! Have a new tube lure coming out in 2010 that will help some for 2011 and beyond I hope. 100% of the profits will go towards kids charities and Veterans events like this. My family and I can not begin to thank the vets enough for everything they have done. Great effort you guys! Very happy to see another year for Operation Muskie!!! Sincerely, James Owner, www.tackleindustries.com PS-Love the new website!

Thank you for the post and reminder. This is absolutely a worthy cause and the results of our donations are immediately known. To all the people that donate their time, tackle, resources thank you! These guys and gals deserve everything we can give them for defending our rights and freedoms. I'm embarrassed and ashamed to say I haven't donated to this cause, yet. Doug & Vonnie, a cash donation is in the mail today!!
