I have one and I think the action is fantastic.

That said, I have not thrown it that much and I will also further qualify my answer by saying that I got it for a pike lake that I fish a lot which, sadly, appears to have had a significant die-off over the past year.

Consequently, I cannot comment on catching a lot of fish yet.

Still, if you put this thing in the water and play with it, you will see what I mean. It really has great action.

It has superb action. However even though they claim it will, it does not hold up to larger toothy critters. I caught a couple northerns on it and it seemed to hold up fine. One upper 30's muskie hit and sliced the bait completely in half. Due to their rigging system the fish would have held had it gotten on the hooks though. It is amazing what kind action you can get out of it. I guess I'm going to put it in the category that if I have a big momma sighted and this is the presentation type I want I will sacrifice the bait for the fish. I also think the hooks are a little light but haven't had a chance to see if larger ones would mess up the action or not.

I wasn't impressed with the bait. It rides too high in the water column due to a lack of a lip. You have to work it pretty slow. The action of the bait was ok but definately needs to get deeper.

The bait has an excellent action. It can be worked with a straight retrieve or twitched. I especially like the way it kicks to the side on a twitch-pause retrieve. As Guest pointed out, it runs shallow, only about a foot deep. Because of the shallow running depth, I usually used it on shallow reef spots. The durability is OK, but I agree with Plunker that it doesn't hold up nearly as well as the manufacturer would claim. The hooks are too small, but I replaced the front hook to a 5/0 Mustad 3551 without any noticeable difference to the action.

Well, it's owned (or was) by Nature Vision. But Nature Vision has since been sold. So this may be a trick question....

Yep. Castaic was sold off quite some time ago.

I believe it is now owned by Reaction Strike aka Trophy Technologies.

To those who commented on the shallow running depth, this is only half true. I have the sinking version which gets down pretty good; like you would expect a Bulldawg or such.

I didn't like the size of the hooks either, so rigged mine with a single 10/0 Mustad treble attached directly to a heavy gauge flouro leader run up through the bait. This killed the action on 9 of 10 casts. When it worked, it looked awesome.

This bait has some potential in my mind. Just have to keep experimenting with the hook size, placement, and harness I guess 'cause I can't get comfortable with those little hooks which the bait has out-of-the-package. I need more gap!

It sure looks good in the water. I have a trout version of this lure and although I love the action I do wish it would sink quicker........a very shallow running bait.

Have any of you thought about adding some weight above the leader to get the bait running deeper?
